Medford Senior Starts Training In Bank Program Sluart Crum, a senior at the Mcdford High school, has started his training at the Medford branch of the United Slates National bank under the work-college program, ac cording to Manager Allan Perry. ., , Crum has received a $1,200 college scholarship , and ' guaranteed position with the bank alter college graauaaon His starting salary then will , be $5,000. The work-college program is open each year to outstand ing high' school senior boys in various Oregon cities where bank branches are located. The Drogram is now in oper ation at 27 branches and the bank's head- office, Selection is made on the basis of teachers' and princi pal's recommendations a n d final interviews and tests giv en by the, bank. Starts Work - Stuart has started learning the job which he-will fit!- on his graduation from high school.' After his graduation he will work 'a' year before entering college. The bank will pav. tuition .fees, at .the University of Oregon or Ore gon State college. He will re ceive $50' for each college phase -as a textbook allow ance. " Other college expenses will be paid from his savings which have been accumulated under a mandatory saying plan., He will attend college four terms and alternately work a year until college graduation.. Tlia program normally takes six years to complote. -The student will be carried as a full-time bank employee. S t u a r t is ' considered on leave of absence during the time he attends, college . . .
