Robert Waller Emmam 1 (Franklin Carr photo) Emmens-Carter The wedding of MIsi Patri cia Louise Carter to Robert Walter Emmens took place 'Saturday, February 11, - In Methodist Cathedral of the Rockies, Boise, Ida. The brde Is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Carter Jr., Boise, and the bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Thomas H. Emmens, 6 North Modoc avenue,- and the late Dr. Emmens. : , The double - ring ceremony was read at four o'clock in the afternoon by Dr. Herbert T. E. Richards and Mr. Carter gave, his daughter in mar riage!' Red and white church decorations were in the valen tine theme, and baskets, held arrangements of . carnations. uavm wier was organist ana Ronald Barton sang. The bride wore a gown of slipper satin designed with fitted bodice, short, gathered sleeves, scooped neckline and full skirt which she had made. She carried red roses and a while orchid on a bible. Mrs. Harvey E. Boardman, Eugene, was matron-of-honor for her sister, and the other attendants wereMrs. Charles D. .Coulter, Boise, and Mrs. Benjamin Wood. Provo, Utah, also sisters of the bride; Mrs. Richard Melcher, Pocatello, Idaho,' and Miss Jane Call, . Boise, a cousin' of the bride. They wore red and white pol ka dotted sheath fro cks trimmed with flat bows at the waistlines, and red veils topped with bows. They car ried chapel bibles; with red roses and streamers to which red hearts were attached. Jennifer Hibba, Medford, and Stephanie Boardman, Eu gene, niece of the bride, were flower girls. Miki Coulter and Carter Boardman, niece and nephew of the bride, were ring bearers. ' John Matteson, Portland, was best man for the bride groom and ushers were James, William and Lee Emmens, brothers of the bridegroom, and Peter Rasmussen, also Medford. i Lighting the candles were Jack and Steven Hibbs, Med ford.. The reception given by the bride's parents was held in the Garden lounge of the cathed ral and receiving guests with the bride's parents was Mrs. Walter Inch. Medford, grand mother of ' the bridegroom. Mrs. Garold Call, Boise, aunt of the bride, cut the wedding cake. Mrs. R. ' The newly weds are at home In Eugene where the bride groom is a student in pre-med-iclne. He Is a grandson of Mrs. J. J. Emmens, 1443 East Main street, Medford, and the late Dr. Emmens, and of the late Walter Inch, He Is a graduate of Medford High school. The bride was graduated from Boise High school and attend ed Oregon State college. For traveling the bride wore a salt and pepper suit with white feathered hat and black accessories. Among the wedding guests was Miss Louise Roberts, cous in of the bridegroom from Studio City, Calif. Style Show Thursday ' Plans for the annual Wel come Wagon club style show have been completed accord ing to Mrs. Paul Whitney, chairman for the event. The show will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 2, In the Girls Community club, 229 North Bartlctt street. Commenting on the fash Ions furnished by Parker Woods will be Mrs. Horace McElrath, Hair styles will be done by the De Na Beauty salon. Musical selections will be by John Lusk. Models for the show are Mrs. Arlle Carter, Mrs. James Gill, Mrs. John Luke, Mrs. Robert Whipple, Mrs. Charles Swenson, Mrs. Roy Leather wood, Mrs. Dee Wood, Mrs. Asa Lemon, and Mrs. John Hoogerhctde. MAY Luncheon Date Announced Medford Jayceetles have set May 13 as the date of the sec ond annual Merit Award of the Year luncheon. It will be held at Rogue Valley Country club. At the luncheon the award will be presented to some young woman between the ages of 20 and 40 for "out standing work in the commu nity." Jaycccttcs will send letters to all women's organizations in the Medford area asking for nominations of candidates for the award, Last year's winner, Mrs. Ed ward P. Barnctt, was the first recipient of the award. She was nominated by the Klwan lan Dames. Jayccette co-chairmen for this year's MAY luncheon are Mrs. Earl D. Pottruff and Mrs. James D. Coons. Rcid, 2190 Siskiyou boule vard, returned recently from southern California where they visited Dr. Reid'i mother. "Tee-Off" Breakfast Set. By Country Club Women Rogue Valley Women's Golf association will open the 1961 golfing season with a "Tee Off" breakfast Thursday, March 2 nd. All golfing and social members are invited to attend. Lady golfers of the 1960 season Will be contacted by phone and those not contacted may make reservations by cal ling the club. Ron Caperna will give a brief talk on golf and an nounce the date for the ladies group lessons. - Play for the day will be nine-hole medal and pairings will be made at the breakfast. Lee, Cargill court, enter tained for Mrs. Lee's sister and Mrs. Lue's aunt,' Mrs Edith B. Hall, San Diego, Calif., with a tea Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Mrs. Lue's home. Mr. Jones was graduated from Mapleton High school, Mapleton, Ore., and is also a junior at Southern Oregon college. He is majoring in sec ondary education, specializing in biology. Card Party To Benefit Scholarship "Spring" is the theme of the annual card parly - and fashion show which Alpha Rho chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will hold March 3 at the Rogue Valley Country club. Proceeds will go towards a nursing' scholarship. Mrs. Steve Hess is chairman. Luncheon will be served at 12 o'clock and reservations should be made by Wednes day, March 1, by calling SPring 3-3170 or. SPring 3-7091. The next meeting will be an open session for spring rushing and will be held at the Hess residence, 1055 Ross lane. Mrs. Kennedy will be co-hostess. , , t Student Chosen On College Board Miss Anne McDuffee.'daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mc Duffee, 2000 Hillcrest road, has been chosen a -member, of 1961 national college . board of the magazine, Mademoi selle. She isfone of 842 stu dents at 330 collegs over the country who will report to Mademoiselle this year on col lege life. Miss McDuffee Is to com plete an assignment that will help "explore interests and abilities in writing, editing, fashion, advertising or art," in competition for one of 20 guest editorships to be award ed by the magazine in May. Winners will be brought to New York for four weeks next June to help with the August college issue. Kier-Lasiter Wedding Held Mr. and Mrs. Glen L. Kier are making their home at 3672 South Pacific highway, follow ing their wedding February 18 in the Sunset Wedding chapel, Reno, Nevada. Mrs. Kier is the former Mrs. Jane E. Lasiter, Sparks, Nev. D. E. Keyman officiated at the six o'clock rites. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. James D. Vernon, Sparks. , Mr. Kier is employed by M. C. Lininger's and Sons, Medford. McCays Return From Mexico , Mr. and Mrs. L. C. McCay, Howard avenue, returned home recently from a months stay in . the south. Three weeks were spent in Mexico on a Greyhound conducted tour. They entered Mexico by way of El Paso, Texas, and Juarez, and traveled the Central route to Mexico City, taking a side trip to Acapul co. They returned by way of Guadalajara, Mazatlan, Guay mas and Nogalcs. They report an enjoyable trip and a "much bettor understanding and knowledge of our friendly neighbors across the border." Smith, Medford, was one of the students pre sented February 23 in the Marylhurst college freshman soloists recital. The young mezzo-soprano sang "Vittoria, mio core!" by Carissimi, and Morgan's "Clorinda." She also played violin in. the college chamber orchestra which gave two numbers. Is your mattress treef?
