Speakers Listed For Presbyterian Churches Sunday ; Central Point- The First Presbyterian church, Central Point, will have as Its guest speaker Sunday morning, Dr. Frank Haines, Professor of history at Southern Oregon college. The Rev. Robert w. Olm sted, pastor, is attending the Western Area Meeting of the National Council of Presby terian Men in Sacramento. The church Is across the street from the Jacksonville Mu seum. k ' is A JERRY SMITH Rally Song Leader Treblettes To Sing at Rally The Treblettes girls trio from the First Church of the Nazarene will sing at the Rogue Valley ' Youth For Christ rally Saturday night. Jerry Smith will be rally song leader and Velda Krause will be the musician. "Seven teen," a 65 minute film will be featured. The rally will be held Feb. 25 at McLoughlin Junior High school gym nasium at 7:30 p.m. The Treblettes began sing ing as a trio in May, 1960. In July they won second place in a Nazarene district music contest held in Portland. The trio has been on a teen-age evangelistic tour in part of Oregon since then. More re cently they have been singing locally. , -' The film "Seventeen" is a production' of Youth Films. Jerry Smith works with the young people at the First As sembly of God and has pas toral experience. CHURCH NEWS National Religious Publicity Council week of Lent the extended schedule of masses will con tinue at Sacred Heart church for the benefit of parishioners who have added daily mass to their list of Lenten activ ities. Monday through Thurs day masses will be said at 6:40 and 8 a.m. and at 6 p.m. The usual Wednesday Per petual Help devotions will immediately follow the eve ning mass on that day. First Friday Masses Friday, being the first Fri day of March and the day of the monthly Sacred Heart de votions, masses will be of fered at 6:40, .8 and 11:15 a.m. The 6 o'clock evening mass will be followed by the stations of the cross. There will be three masses the first Saturday of March one at 6:40 a.m., one at 8 a.m., after which the Fatima devo tions will be said, and one at 11 a.m. for children attend ing Saturday catechism class es. No evening mass will be offered on this day. Child Evangelism Week Observance Sunday more than a dozen churches, in the Rogue valley will observe the beginning of Child Evangelism week by distributing 2,000 special bulletin covers to their con gregations. ', In Medford more than 500 children are . enrolled in 22 weekly home Bible classes, known as Good News clubs, which are sponsored by the Child Evangelism Fellowship of Medford. Gov. Mark O. Hatfield, in a statement this week regard ing the event, reminded resi dents that the program's pur pose is to reach those chil dren under 13 years of age who do not attend any church. "It is essential that the in dividual has freedom of wor ship," the Governor stated, "but experience teaches us that those who have a firm spiritual commitment are capable of making a greater contribution to the society in which they live. ."We should all be willing to assist and encourage those organizations which bring the vital truths and philosophy of the Bible Into homes and lives of our young people." Dwight L Kinman will conduct Spir itual Life meetings at Trail Community church in both the morning and evening serv ices Sunday. He will also speak each evening at 7:30 o'clock through Wednesday, March 1. Mr. Kinman is a former pastor of a church in Port land. His subject Sunday will be "Soul Winning through the Power of Prayer" and "Soul Winning m the light of the Near coming of Christ." A variety of music is being presented in each serv ice by local talent. The Sunday school launches a con test with a "Secret Church." Each of the seven Sunday school departments of the lo cal church have self-contained contests which are suitable to the particular age group. The attendance goal for Eas ter, April 2, is 1,000. First Baptists Plan Services The Rev. Edward C. Stauf fer will speak Sunday at the 11 a.m. worship service of First Baptist church on the topic, "What Can Wash Away My Sins." Maynard Hadley, minister of music, will direct the chap el choir, and Miss Joyce Col vin will present a vocal solo. Mrs. Albert Gandt is organist. The adult Bible study group will meet at the church at 6:30 p.m., and youth groups for those of junior through college age will meet at the same hour. "The Inner Circle" will be the subject of the message by Pastor Stauffer at the gospel hour at 7:45 p.m. The men's quartet, composed of Albert Gandt, Robert Gresham, Hel mer Tinseth, and Glen Jer den, will sing.
