A Woman's Misfortune Her hair style wasn't specific, Her make-up scheme was horrific, Her dress was too long ami ruffled, In fact, she looked ruther muffled; Her hat must've come from the atlic, Her laughter sounded like static, But pause before you deride her She had no daughter to guide her! Ethel Handcock Harp God ... Or The Greatest Fraud That Ever Lived! Most people will agree that Jesus Christ was a great man . . . that He was an inspired spiritual lead er . . . that He performed miracles never performed before or since His time by anyone else. But today ... as at Christ's trial before the high priest Caiphas . . . many are unwilling to accept Our Lord's claim to be the divine Son of Almighty God. For nearly 2,000 years the Catholic Church has maintained that, as Jesus claimed, He "and the Father arc one." Based on what He said and did . . . what He claimed and what He fulfilled... He had to be the Son of God or the greatest fraud that ever lived. Prophecies scattered through the books of the Old Testament, written as long ss 1,000 years before Christ's birth, describe the family from which he was to come . . . the circumstances of his birth ...his life of preaching and mir acles . . . and finally, his birth and death for the sins of mankind. All these prophecies apply to only one man in all the annals of human history to Jesus Christ alone. If we are to accept Christ as the center and essence of our reli gious faith, the least we can be lieve of Him is that what He said was true. And under cross examination by Caiphas, when asked to declare if He was "the Christ, the Son of God," Our Lord replied: "Thou hast said it" (Mat thew 26:63, 64). A man who only claims to be the Son of God could not have done the things Jesus did to prove it. No mere human being could is walk on the waters, still the waves, jjj cleanse the lepers, restore sight to the blind, bring the dead back I to life. One who only claimed to g be divine could not have returned Si from the grave as Christ did. jjj The whole foundation of the js Christian religion rests upon jjj God's promise to send His only jjj begotten Son to redeem a sinful world. He did not promise to jjj send merely a gifted preacher, or jjj a pious leader but His Own Son. jjj And no lesser person's sacrifice, however noble, would have been jjj sufficient to achieve the redemp- 3 tion of man. jjj What do you think of Christ? jjj Wouldn't you like to know more 3 about Him and what His birth and life and death mean to you jjj and your own immortal soul? Quips and Quotes Much against his conscience, an office worker bought a sweepstakes ticket from a fellow employee. It turned out to be the winning ticket, and he was informed that he would soon receive $50,000. "I didn't work for this money," the trou bled man told his wife.
