I wish I had time to stop and write a book for them on the subject; but I haven't; the days are too short. Perhaps Alvarez in the public library, the mother can find an excellent book, "Cerebral Palsy," written by Dr. John F. Pohl, of Minneapolis. It is possible that the publisher (Bruce Publ. Co., St. Paul, Minn.) has some copies left. it was published lu years ago. Another fine book "The Cerebral-Palsied Child," by Drs. Winthrop M. Phelps and Thomas W. Hoplkns and Robert Cousins (Simon and Schuster, N.Y., 1958). A hope - giving book is "Born that Way," by Dr. Earl R. Carlson (John Day, N.Y., 1841). He tells how he, with severe form of the palsy, was left motherless as a child, but somehow managed to get tnrougn college ana Decome a doctor. The best study I know of the terrible psychic dis tresses of the palsied child is, My Left Foot," by a poor Irish lad, Christy Brown (Si mon Schuster, 1054). This is very moving book which ought to ba read by every parent of a palsied child. It is a classic. up and up and up? Tensions can affect your blood pres sure if you're a nervous per son. For all the answers about one's blood pressure, read Dr. Alvarez' booklet "High Blood Pressure." It may be obtained by sending 25 cents and large, stamped, self-addressed envelope with your request to Dr. Walter C. Alvarez Dept. MMT, The Register and Tribune Syndicate, Box 957, Des Moines 4, Iowa. New Archbishop Seeks Closer Ties London - (UPD - Dr. Arthur Ramsey, who will become archbishop of Canterbury in June, made it clear today that he will follow his predecessor in seeking closer ties with oth er Christian churches. "I should love to meet the Pope (as the outgoing arch bishop did in December) but union of all churches is a slow process .. . ." said Dr. Ramsey, now archbishop of York. "I intend to serve this process to the best of my power. The Anglican prelate, char acterized by a halo of white hair, bushy eyebrows and a jovial manner, was "nominat ed" formally Thursday for the vacancy created by the May 31 retirement of Dr. Geoffrey Fisher, who has been archbishop of Canter bury since 1945. Election is a formality. The new archbishop will be in stalled shortly after his 73-year-old predecessor steps down. Dr. Ramsey will be succeed ed as archbishop of York by Donald Coggan, 51-year-old bishop of Bradford.
