nouncement of the engage
ment of Miss Barbara McKay
Cheney, Wash., to Ensign
Richard Van Vlcck, Medford.
The bride-to-be is the daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce
McKay, Cheney, and is a stu-
dent at the University of Ore
gon Medical school, Portland.
Her fiance is the son of Mr,
and Mrs. Forest Van Vleck,
1618 East Jackson boulevard.
Both are graduates of Ore
gon State college. Miss McKay
will complete her studies In
September. Her fiance has
spent the last four months at
the Naval Officers Candidate
school, Newport, R. I., where
he received his commission In
December. During the next
two months he is to be sta
tioned at Port Hueneme,
Calif., for further training in
the Naval Civil Engineering
corps.

when he speaks here Monday.

held Monday, January 16, at
12 noon at Norths Chuck
Wagon.

hold their annual "husbands'
party" February 4. The group
will gather at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Grigsby

a late dinner following bowl
ing. Mrs. William Clegg will
assist Mrs. Grigsby.
The club met January 11
at the home of Mrs. J. L.
Holmes, 303 Willamette ave-
cnue. Plans were discussed
concerning t h e membership
tea which will be held in
February. Mrs. Holmes and
Mrs. James Wells were ap
pointed co-chairman of the
event.
A work party was organ
ized for Wednesday, January
18, at the club's clothing pool
in Lincoln Elementary school.

duct a nursery at the Weaver

at Eugene was the setting of
the ceremony, held December
23. The Rev. Robert G. Kings
bury officiated at the double
ring candlelight ceremony.

father, the bride wore a floor-
length gown of embroidered
silk organza with a silk or
ganza cabbage rose at the
back of the waistline. Her silk
illusion veil was held by a
coronet of waxed orange blos
soms and she carried a cas
cade of white gardenias.
Miss Louise Davis, Eugene,
maid of honor, and Mrs. Nich
olas Steffanoff, Eugene, brides
matron, wore peacock blue
velveteen sheath dresses with
velveteen bow headpieces and
carried crescent bouquets of
red poinsettias.
The bride's mother wore
beige lace and the mother of
the bridegroom was dressed
in steel gray silk. Their cor
sages were orchids.

The couple visited in Port

and will receive her degree in
June from the University of
Oregon school of journalism,

Mrs. Mark O. Hatfield, wife of Oregon's governor, will
wear this gown at the inaugural ball Friday. January 20,
in Washington, D.C. The floor length gown of a French in
spired design, is of coupe de velour fashioned with siring
straps and matching stole. The floral pattern of red flowers
and moss green leaves is on an ivory background. She
will also wear long white kid gloves and a strand of pearls.
Among other events the Hatfields will attend are the
reception Thursday for governors of the states and the
inaugural parade. For the latter event Mrs. Hatfield plans

Richard Lee Runyard, also
Portland. Mr. Runyard is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Run
yard, 2748 Jacksonville High
way, Medford. The bride's
parents are Mr. and Mrs. John
Kanelis, Portland.
The wedding was held at
7:30 p.m. in the Greek Ortho
dox church, and Father An
gelo Gavalas officiated at the
double ring ceremony.
Mr. Kanelis escorted his
daughter to the altar and gave
her in marriage. The bride
wore a floor length wedding
gown of white chantilly lace
with chapel train and finger
tip veil. She carried a bou
quet of roses and stephanotis
encircling a white orchid.
Honor attendant was Miss
Barbara Eva, Portland. Brides
matrons were Mrs. Constan
tino Kanelis, sister-in-law of
the bride and Mrs. Richard
Frost, both of Portland, and
Mrs. Donald Spangrud, Salem.
They wore dresses of red satin
with matching accessories and
carried bouquets of red roses
and white carnations.

versity of Oregon.
They are traveling to Chi
cago. HI . for their honeymoon.

past three and a half years
he has been district sales pro
motion and training manager
for Westinghouse in Port

held Saturday, December 30,
at the Park Wedding chapel,
Vancouver, Wash.
The bride is a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Self, Eagle
Point, and Mr. Clark is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Nolan
Clark, also Eagle Point.
Mr. Clark is an enlistee in
the Army, and is stationed at
Fort Ord, Calif. Mrs. Clark
will make her home with her
parents, until he has complet
ed basic training when she
plans to join him.

anniversary of Mrs. Matilda
Dietrich, 939 North Central

Canada, and Mrs. Charles
Hansen, Morrow Bay, Calif.,
and Mr. Hansen. Mrs. Diet
rich's two sons, Robert, Palm
Springs, Calif., and Michael,
Hollywood, were unable to
be with their mother. .
Mrs. Dietrich, a native of
Minnesota, has lived in Med
ford many years and works
with a number of organiza
tions. The Hansens have re
turned home but Mrs. Wen
zel, the former Leona Diet
rich, will remain in Medford
for another two weeks.
