38 to 35 leads. Much of the
time St. Mary's was just
point or two back. In the early

Free Shots Crucial
Prospect's free shooting,
with the points picked up at

Triumphs
A long, foul filled, and hot
spirited atmosphere was pres
ent as the ninth grade basket
ball five of McLoughlin Jun
ior high downed the visiting
freshman group from Solith
Grants Pass by the score of
45 to 32.
It was hard fought all the
way, with Mac behind until
the early part of the fourth
quarter. The clutch shooting
of Don Kengla, the steady
play of Jim Allen, Ron Ed
monds, and Chuck Kimball,
and the game high scoring of
Bill Houston, 18, contributed
to the climb to the top after
trailing 10-12 at the end of!
one, 14-23 at the half, and 24-1
29 as the third period came
to an end.
Bauer put in the most, 15,
for the visitors. Bauer and
Sander of GP and Mengla and
Kimball fouled out. A total
of 42 miscues were written in
to the books, 19 for Mac and
23 for SGP.
Some late game rebound
ing by Dick Bottger was a
boost to the McLoughlin
cause. Houston put in 12 free
tosses on 14 attempts.

Hed Raiders Romp
Ashland - Soutliern Oregon

cleared his bench here Friday
night as his Red Raiders bas
kelballcrs scored an easy 6B

to run their victory skein in
Oregon Collegiate conference
play to 3 wins, 0 losses.
In wrapping up the win,
their sixth of. the season
against six losses, the Raiders

bounds. Big John Payne not
only topped both teams in
scoring 13 tallies but pulled
down 14 rebounds.
Earle Tichenor was not far
behind in both departments
with 10 points and a like num
ber of retrieves. As a team
the Raiders hauled in 51 stray
shots to the visiting Wolves'

Oregon College had three
men in double figures but the
Raiders' overall balanced scor
ing was more than enough to
cinch the win. Jim Bennett,
seeing his first collegiate ac
tion as a varsity player top
ped the losers in the scoring
column with 12 tallies. Team
mates Dennis Spencer with 1 1
and Steve Rankin with 10
