MEDFORD, OREGON, SUNDAY, DECEMBER 25, I960 Reception Here Honors Newly wedded Couple Mr. and Mrs. Carl Marcus Saltveit were honored at a reception Friday afternoon at the Rogue Valley Country club by Judge and Mrs. Ed ward C. Kelly, parents oi Mrs. Saltveit.' The counle. whn wopp mar. ried November 30 in Portland, recently returned from a three weeks wedding trip to Califor nia, Arizona and Mexico. The bride is the former Miss Nor een Kelly of Medford and Portland. Red and white carnations and fern decorated the serv ing, guest book and bride's tables for the event attended by more than 250 relatives and friends. Pouring coffee and tea were Mrs. Hugh Friel, Mrs. Dee Departure Date Set by Durnos; Daughter He're Dr. and Mrs. Edwin R. Dur no will leave the first of the week for Washington, D.C., where he will take the oath of office as congressman from this district during change of administration cere monies. The Durnos have taken an apartment in the Congression al hotel until permanent quar ters are obtained. In Medford to be with her parents before they leave is their youngest daughter, Miss Kaye Durno, who teaches school in Walnut Creek, Calif. Wednesday night the Dur nos and their daughter were guests at a family Christmas party held at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Brian Stringer, South Modoc avenue. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Hensley, the Durno's third daughter, and their family. Later the Henslcys left to spend Christmas with Mr. Henslcy's mother in Los An geles. , Guests of Dr. and Mrs. Dur no today are Dr. and Mrs. Charles W. Lemery and their daughter, Miss Linda Lemery, who is here from Portland. Duty in Havana Ended for Officer Major Jack Paxton, who lived in Medford as a student, has returned to the United Stales after having been on Army duty in Havana, Cuba, for more than two years. The major's wife and fam ily preceded him home, and the family met at Key West, Fla. For the holidays they are in Newport, Ore., as guests of the officer's aunt, Mrs. James King. January 15 Major Pax ton reports for duty at Ft. Lewis, Wash. The major is to be retired from active duly in March, and plans to live in Portland.. Deatherage, Mr. Friel and James Kelly. , ' The antique coffee-tea silver service and tall silver candel abra were loaned by Mrs. T. E. Daniels, godmother of Judge Kelly. The service was a wedding present to Mrs. Daniels from her husband, the late T. E. Daniels. The newlyweds will leave for Portland early this week and will make their home at 3120 SW Eleventh street, Portland. Cocktail Party, Dinner Given Ashland A holiday party that has become a tradition among a group in the Rogue valley was held Sunday eve ning, December 18, when Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Ingle of 1155 Fern St., Ashland, were hosts for a 6 o'clock cocktail hour at their home. The guests were all friends of the late Mrs. Margaret Fabrick of Medford, Mrs. Ingle's mother. Later in the evening a Christmas dinner was served in the Caesar room of the Mart Antony hotel to Mrs. Edith Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Naumes, Mrs. Grace Collins, Mr. and Mrs. John Collins, Mrs. Mamie Sleeter, Mrs. Ruth Day, Mrs. Sally Reum, Mr. and Mrs. Richard . Visitor Honored At Tea Tuesday Mrs. L. P. Smith, Sn Diego, Calif., was honored at a tea Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hugh Collins, 40 Glen Oak court. About 50 friends attended the event. Pouring during the afternoon were Mrs. Mary Trout, Mrs. Brian Mullen and Mrs. W. G. Bonney, Ashland. Mrs. Smith arrived in the valley two weeks ago and plans to spend the holiday season with her son-in-law, daughter and grandchildren. Gordon Pathmann and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Double An event of December 16 was the double wedding of Miss Rosemary Ann Tokar to Ernest Earl Pathmann, and Miss Colleen Joanne Riley to Gordon Thomas Pathmann. Miss Riley is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Riley, 616 Stewart avenue, and Miss Tokar's parents are Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Roscborough, 610 Oakdale drive. The bridegrooms are the sons of Mrs. Agnes O. Path mann, 519 Fairmont street. Dr. D. Kirkland West offi ciated at the eight o'clock evening double ring rites held at First Presbyterian church and attended by 200 relatives and friends. While tapers and baskets of red poinsettias and holly decorated the church. Miss Riley wore a floor length gown of lace over satin fashioned with scoop neckline trimmed with pearls and lace and a full skirt which ended in a chapel train. Her shoulder length veil was held by a pearl crown and she carried white rosebuds encircling a white orchid on a white Bible, a gift from her maid of honor. Her pendant and pearl earrings were gifts from the bride groom. Miss Tokar's floor length gown was fashioned with a bodice of poinsettia design lace and the full satin skirt had matching lace panels. Her shoulder length veil was held by a crown of pearls and she carried a while orchid and white roses on a white Bible, a gift from her sister, Miss Colleen Tokar. Her pearl and rhinestone pendant and matching earrings were gifts from the bridegroom. Mr. Riley and Mr. Rose borough escorted their daugh ers to the altar and gave them in marriage. Name Attendants The brides served as honor attendants for each other. Miss Tokar's other attendants were Miss Patricia Hilton, Miss Sylvia Smith. and Miss Judilh Goss, Portland. Miss Rik attendants were Mrs. I,,l5'v1W M N,i.w Rites Steven Wisely, her sister, Mrs. Allan Higinbotham, Central Point and Miss Kath leen Riley, another sister. They wore holly berry red frocks with lace bodices and full chiffon skirts over taf feta. Their satin slippers and bow hats with float veils matched their dresses and they carried nosegay bou quets of holly tied with red satin ribbon. Each bridegroom served as best man for the other. Seat ing the guests for the Riley Pathmann rites were Michael Riley, brother of the bride; Steven Wisley, brother-in-law of the bride, and Gerald Funk. Ushers for the other couple were Frank C. Tokar, Palm Springs, Calif., brother of the bride; Larry Ryerson, Central Point, and Warren Skoag. Candlelighters were Sten Lovenborg and Dennis Ryer son. Mrs. Robert Sheldon played the organ wedding music and accompanied the Rev. G. Rob ert Jacks, soloist. For the wedding and recep tion which followed at the church Mrs. Riley chose a bronze satin dress with matching accessories. Mrs. Roseborough wore a brocaded satin sheath of antique white with matching jacket and Mrs. Pathmann's frock was of plum colored lace with match ing accessories. The corsages were of pink rosebuds. Two Cakes Cut Two identical wedding cakes were cut at the receptions. For the R i 1 e y -Pathmann Phoenix Couple To Be Honored Phoenix - The children of Mr. and Mrs. Walker M. Cald well are holding an open house for the fiftieth wedding anniversary of their parents on Sunday, January 1, from 2 to 5 p.m. The event will be held at 403 Second street, Phoenix, with friends and neighbors in-v'fled. Pathmann at the right. Dr. D. Kirkland West read the mar- riage vows in the presence of 200 relatives and friends. A reception followed in the church reception room, and when the two couples left on their wedding trips, they were pelted by rice in the traditional fashion. Miss Julie Jahn was in charge of the guest book and Terry Phillips was at the gift table. Miss Colleen Tokar cut the cake for her sister 's reception and Mrs. H. L. Brown presid ed at the punch bowl. Mrs. Ellen Augard was in charge of the guest book and Miss Lorna Bcnducci was at the gift table. Miss Lois Joy To kar, sister of the bride, poured coffee for both re ceptions. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Path mann also traveled to Port land on their wedding trip. The bride wore for traveling a jersey dress with black acces sories and a white orchid cor sage. They will make their home at 516 South Ivy street. The bride is a graduate of Medford High school and is employed by Olympic Petro leum Products company. Mr. Pathmann also attended Med ford High school and is a slu dent at the University of Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Path mah also traveled to Portland on their wedding trip. The bride wore for traveling mocha colored wool suit with box jacket and beige acces sories. The couple will be at home in Albuquerque, N.M where the bridegroom is an airman second class in the U.S. air force. They plan to spend the holidays with their families in Medford. The bride and bridegroom Medford Paint & Li 1 i are graduates of Medford High school. The bride was employed by Mann's Depart ment store. Dinner Given A rehearsal dinner was given by the mothers of the brides at the Roscborough home the evening prior to the wedding for members of the wedding party. Out of town guests at the rites were Mr. and Mrs. Pres ton Card and sons, Klamath Falls; Mrs. Vivian Pathmann, Riverside, Calif., grandmoth er of the bridegrooms; Mr. and Mrs. Keith Estcrdale, Compton, Calif.; Mrs. Bessie James, Cornelius, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Eslon Way and fam ily, Lebanon, Ore., and Mr. and Mrs. Dale McMullin and Kalhy and Dale, Cottage Grove. O'Connors Visit Relatives Here Mr. and Mrs. John M. O'Connor and son, of LaPaz, South America, spent a week recently with Mr. O'Connor's grandmother, Mrs. Roy M. Johnston, 1017 Ingrid street, Medford. Mr. O'Connor, a West Point graduate, is a lawyer for the Standard Oil Company of California out of San Fran cisco. They have resided in a number of Central and South American countries in recent years. The family left for While Sulphur Springs, Mont, to spend Christmas with his mother, Mrs. Marvin Corkill. Higgins, adminis trator of Rogue Valley Manor, and Mrs. Higgins gave a pre- Christmas reception Monday evening for the board of trustees and all members now in Medford. It was held at First Methodist church. Melvin H. Hogan, president of the board, and Mrs. Hogan attended. Mr. Hogan extend ed the season's good wishes and a welcome to those pres ent. Proficiency awards were presented to the Misses Diane Evernham, Barbara Morton, Laura Rupert, Pat Ellis, Patti Harris, Adah Harris, Pat Bor ough, Vicki Ingram, Valerie Knights and Diane Rupert. Escorted and introduced during the evening were Mrs C. D. Elhart, past grand guar dian of Oregon, and past guar dian of Bethels 14 and 22, F. H.
