Officials said the incident
occurred when Henderson
tried to pay- for drinks at
the Club 21 with a U. S. 55
bill.
They said Robreno, seated
on the next bar stool, claimed
the bill -was. counterfeit. A
Cuban, .policeman, .Alberto
Blanco, arrested Henderson
and took him outside. Robre
no came out and shot the
American,' officials said.

tiary for murder, has peti
tioned Marion county circuit
court to designate her as her
own counsel in a bid for free
dom. Mrs. Avent is scheduled to
appear before Judge George
Jones at 9:30 a.m. Monday.
Mrs. Avent was convicted
of second degree murder in
1955 in Morrow county for
the June 4, 1955 shooting of
Portland Attorney Delmore
Lessard in a Heppncr case.
Lessard was the attorney for
the woman's ex-husband.
Said Refused Counsel
She filed a petition last
April under the post convic
tion act seeking release.
Among other things she charg
ed that she was refused the
right of counsel when arrest
ed and that Morrow county
authorities conspired against
her before the trial.
She said evidence on her
behalf was destroyed and she
was held incommunicado for
five days while authorities
gave their version of the
crime to the press.
The state then filed a mo
tion calling on her to comply
with pleading requirements
of the act and to write the
petition setting forth specific
grounds for release.
