Spear Fishing Contest Planned Grants Pass - Caveman's Scuba Divers club is holding a spear fish contest and a star fish mop on Sunday, Nov. 20, at Crescent City, Calif. The event will start at 10 a.m. and those interested are to meet at the city dock at Crescent City. There will be trophies and cash prizes for winners. Fifteen to 20 members of the host club are expected to participate and the club has extended an invitation to div ers in other cities of this area. Moves Within One Catch of Record Moscow, Idaho UPD - End Hugh Campbell moved to within one catch of the Na tional pass reception record Saturday as Washington State University defeated the University of Idaho, 18 7, in the traditional football battle of the Palouse. Campbell (aught eight passes two of them for touchdowns - as he neared the single-season mark of 61 set last year by Chris Bur ford of Stanford. Hit 95 yards for the day brought his season's total to 800, just B4 yards short of the National record set by another WSU end, Ed Bark er, in 1951. South ern Oregon college closed out the 1960 football season with an upset victory over Santa Clara 26-20 here Friday night between rain storms plaguing the bay area. Doyle Bransom provided the initial spark for the Raid er offensive attack when he returned a kickoff 82 yards in the opening stages of the first quarter. Bransmo's quick sparkler followed a 34-yard draw play which scored for Santa Clara with less than two minutes gone in the game. SOC threatened on numer ous other instances to score before they surged into a 20 12 halftime lead. Highly rated Santa Clara, once a powerhouse in the west, which revived football this fall, managed only 129 yards passing and 107 yards on the ground, far below the 400 plus yards they had been averaging per game. Carritd Off Field Raider mentor Al Akins, who was carried off the field on the shoulders' of the win ning Redmen, had high praise for the defensive unit led by Jess Munyon and Willie Gar ner.
