day was Mary Hawthorne, 26,
one of four American Airlines
stewardesses involved in a
taxi accident in San Bruno
Monday. Actually Mary is
, still alive though in a coma,
with, her face swathed In
bandages at Peninsula Hos
pital In San Mateo, Calif.

'That's Not Mary'
"Oh, my God! That's not
Mary," exclaimed Evans when
the coffin was opened. Miss
Pugh also said the corpse was
someone other than her friend.
The airline made a check
, with California police and was
told the cab was destroyed
and the hostesses' belongings
scattered. The dead woman
was identified from papers
"found nearest her body on
the highway at the time of
the accident.
' Two of the hostesses, Sheila
Murray, New York, and 1Te
resa DiPlacigo, Philadelphia,
are in good condition at
' "Peninsula Hospital, leaving
"only Miss Frost as a possible
' alternate for the dead woman.
