(Knackstedt photo) Annual Stjle Shoiv Set By Junior PF omen 9s Club Medford Junior Women's club will complete plans for the annual stylo show at a meeting Wednesday, Novem ber 0, at 8 p.m. Members will meet at the home of Mrs. L. E. McConnell, 1401 South Whitman avenue. The style show Is set for Friday, November 18, at Rogue valley Chantry club Luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. The theme of the show will be "Holiday Portraits". Through the cooperation of George G. Johnson, president of the Southern Oregon So ciety of Artists, works of re gional artists will be ex hibited. Town and Country shop of Eagle Point will provide the clothing. Shoes will be from Burelson's 'Of Medford, Hats from Hadloy's of Medford, and make-up will be under the direction of Mrs, Vcl Hal gren, Charles of Rltz consult ant from Burelson's. Decorations chairman Is Mrs. Robert W, Vincent, and prizes and favors will be the work of Mrs. Bob G. Norris. Mrs. E. W. Ingram is music chair main, and Mrs. Robert L. Haworth, publicity. Mm. William J. Thompson is arranging the art exhibit, and Mrs. Gene S. Chamberlain is the luncheon chairman. Show Slated In Ashland Ashland - The annual fall fashion show of the Ashland Soroptimist club will be held November 30, according to Mrs. Bess Madison and Mrs. Hclml Leldlgh, co-chairmen. The event was originally set for November IB. , Mrs. Norma Erwln announc ed at the group's meeting lust Friday that reservations should be in early and that tickets could be purchased from all members, or by call ing her at MUrdock 9-8751. The show, "Holiday Fashion Review", will be presented in the Ashland Elks club lounge. All proceeds will go to the Soroptimist scholarship fund. Republicans In the valley inadvertently shared the last Soroptimist meeting at the Mark Antony hotel when a reservation confusion put both groups In Caesar hall, United States Senator Frank Carlson of Kansas spoke briefly to the combined meeting. Oak Knoll Club Elects Ashland - Mrs. Louis Cox, Central Point, was elected president of Oak Knoll Wom en's club at a luncheon meet ing held Thursday at the Oak Knoll Country club. Mrs. Wil liam Bittlc, Medford, was named secretary-treasurer and Mrs. Rolland Hogue, Medford, tournament chairman. Miss Kay Harklns, Ashland, was presented a trophy for being the fall handicap tour nament winner. Mrs. Frank J. Grllsch, Medford, won the handicap play Thursday. Medford Youth Has Lead Role Eugene-Michael Stonrns of Medford has a lead role in "The Cherry Orchard," sched tiled to open November 11 at the University of Oregon. Mr. Steams is cast as Lop ahin, a land speculator. He Is a junior, majoring in sculp ture, at the university. Anton Checkhov's dramatic comedy, the last University Theatre production of 19(10 will be performed 15 nights between the opening date and December 3. The UT group Is producing the play as a tribute to Click. hov on his 100th anniversary. The marriage cere mony was held Saturday, Oc tober 29, at the Church of the Wayfarer, Carmel, Calif. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Farrell, 1510 East Main street, Med ford, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. William Handwerg, Palo Alto, Calif. For the ceremony, read at 12 o'clock, the bride wore a charcoal colored two!-piece knit suit with white feather hat and while orchid corsage and black accessories. Her necklace and earrings were of matching crystal. L Only immediate members of tlie two families were pres ent for tlie ceremony at the church and the wedding breakfast which followed at the La Playa hotel in Carmel. In addition to the parents of the bride and the bridegroom, the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Gain Robinson, Medford, and her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Zelver, Menlo Park, Calif., were present. Also pres ent was the bridegroom's sis ter, Miss Karen Handwerg. Mr. and Mrs. Handwerg will live in Palo Alto. Shower Honors Ashland Woman Mrs. W. B. Blackmer, Ash land, was honored guest at a shower given Thursday aft ernoon by Mrs. P. F. Brainerd at her home, 226 Valley View drive. Mrs, Brainerd was as Isted by her mother, Mrs. Ralph Swartsley. Mrs. Blackmer Is to become the bride of John Henry, Lin coln, Ore., with the wedding planned for' the near future. The refreshment table cen terpiece was of white and rust colored chrysanthemums, and the gifts were arranged in two umbrellas decorated with small white chrysanthemums and ribbons. About 20 guests were pres ent for the party. Temple To Mark Founders' Day Founder's day will be ob served at a stated session of Zuleima temple, Daughters of the Nile, in the Grants Pass Masonic temple November 12 at 1 p.m. A tea will be given by tlie Woodland Nile club of Glcndale following the meeting, with Mrs. Maud Mc Queen and Mrs. Gertrude Scheiferstein assisting. Nye, Phoe-nix-Hillcrest road. The honored guests were Mrs. Charles Tucker, Mrs. Harris Ross, Mrs. Richard Card and Miss Eileen Martin. The tea table was decorated with a large centerpiece of yellow roses and candles. Mrs. O. A. Eden, sponsor and hon orary member of the group, and Mrs. C. Meeting Postponed By District Nurses The regular meeting of Dis trict 4, Oregon Nurses asso ciation has been postponed from Tuesday, November 8, until Tuesday, November 15.
