The United Statei attor ney's office, district of Ore gon, will be open from 8 a m to 6 p.m. Nov. 8, according to (,'. E. Luckey, U.S. attor ney, Portland. "Purpose of thia is to en able prompt action relating to complaints of violations of federal election laws," Luc- key said. "rederal election laws arc primarily concerned with con spiracles to stuff ballot boxes or to alter the election re turns in favor of one of more candidates, bribery of voters, violence or other acts of in timidation toward voters to prevent them from voting, discrimination or prohibiting voters from using their right to vote because of race and conspiracy to misuse the ab sentee ballot provisions," the attorney said. Matters involving state en forcement problems should be referred to appropriate local authorities, he added. Edward Branchfield and Mrs. Moore Hamilton, both of Medford, attended the Oct. 28 meeting of the Oregon Tech- Ical Institute advisory coun cil at the OTI campus, Klam ath Falls. Mrs. Leigh Gustison, a third council member from Med ford, was unable to attend. Mrs. Hamilton is also a mem ber of the state board of edu cation. Cost of moving the campus will be somewhat higher than the original estimate of $14 million made in 1958-59, Dr. Winston Purvine, of OTI, ex plained to the group. The new site is north of Klamath Falls and six miles from the present campus site. The first two buildings will be completed on the new campus between 1962 and 1963, ac comodate 500 students and cost an estimated $2 million, Dr. Purvine said. Dave Foote Wins Speech Contest Grants Pass - Dave Foolo, representing the Crater High school FFA chapter and high school speech department, won the area soil conservation district speech contest at Grants Pass Thursday night, according to Chester Jensen, chairman of the Rogue Soil Conservation district, which Foote also represented. As a winner of the south western Oregon contest, Foote will go to the state soil con servation districts convention in The Dalles Nov. 16 to 18 to compete in the state con test. Foote was presented an en graved trophy and will re ceive an expense paid trip to The Dalles. He Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Waller Foote, Central Point. second place winner was Shasta Pritchard, Sixes, Ore, who represented the Gold Beach area and the Curry County Soil Conservation district. George Martin, of the Illinois Valley vocational ag riculture department, placed third In the contest. Subject of the contest was wildlife conservation. The old campus will be va cated gradually. Dr. Purvine said the present plan of mov ing the campus during three blenniums will result In a somewhat greater operating cost but there will be counter balances and advantages. Courses moved to the new campus first will be those in engineering associates, medi cal associates and business as sociates. The metals and auto- Ldiesel divisions will stay on the present campus where the laboratories with their heavy machines and equipment will remain until the final move. Student housing will remain on the present c am p u s throughout the period of split operation to accumulate more funds for building dormitories on the new campus. Dr. Pur vine said. During the meeting, Harley Libby, Jefferson, was elected chairman of the advisory council. He succeeds Jeff Bell, Portland. Others elected were Allen Leake, Helix, vice-chairman, Mrs. Lucille O'Neill, Klamath Falls, secretary.
