SUNDAY. OCTOBER 30, HO MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE. MEDFOHD. ORE. A 7 Insurance for Timber Crop Said Possible State department of forestry officials have announced that insurance for tree crops is not available at present, but "would be possible if there were enough demand for It." At a recent meeting of the crop insurance representatives it was suggested, that the or ganization make a study to determine the appraisal methods,- the average rate of possi ble losses, and the premium rate. Dick Olson, Oregon farm forester, reported that each crop "has to stand on its own feet," so there would have ,to be wide participation in the program to make it inexpen sive enough to be acceptable. Olson said woodland owners interested in this type of in surance should write to Creighton F. Lawson, Federal Crop Insurance Corp., Spo kane, Wash. Since tree-planting season is approaching, state forest nursery tree order blanks may be obtained by writing to Dick Olson, farm forester, box 71, Medford, or by telephoning him at NOrmandy 4-1213.
