Works by Clifford Platz and LaVesla Gardner are also on display now. . Mrs. Robertson states that new operators at the shops are Mrs. Ann Marie Runyan and Miss Carol Seng. Mrs. Clark Walker To Speak for Club Mrs. Clark J. Walker will present a program on "Trav eling Through Europe at a meeting of Travel Study club of the Oregon Federation of Women s clubs. Central Auxiliary Head To Visit Group; Celebration Held The Oregon state auxiliary president, Mrs. Elmer Jac ques, Nyssa, will make her official visitation to Crater Lake auxiliary, Fraternal Or der of Eagles, at a meeting Thursday, October 27, at 8 p.m. at the Eagles. hall. The auxiliary has planned a formal no-host dinner - to precede the meeting. Reser vations for this dinner may be made with Mrs. Theodore Weixel, SPring 2-5984. The 29th anniversary of its institution was celebrated by the auxiliary at its meting Thursday. Charter members and past madam presidents were honored guests for the occasion. The guests were escorted to their ribbon-enclosed seats by the drill team under the direction of Mrs. Esther Mil ler, captain. A large cake, prepared by Mrs, Primo Ciar- di, was placed before the al tar and as each past presi dent's name was called, she lighted one of the candles. Miniature cups and saucers bearing the Eagle emblem were presented to each of the guests by Mrs. Stuart Forbes, president of the auxiliary, and Mrs. Yetta Flowers, aux-, iliary mother. The drill team gave a special exhibition drill with comments by the cap tain during its exemplifica tion. Refreshments were served after the meeting. Program Set On Conservation . A conservation program open to the public will be presented by the Howard Garden club Tuesday, Octo ber 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Howard school multipurpose room. Mrs. R. L. Asher, conser vation chairman of Siskiyou district, National Federation of Garden club, will be guest speaker and show slides. Mrs. James Wicker, pro gram chairman, asks all mem bers of the club to take a flower arrangement for display. Two Officers Talk For Woman's Society Talent - Two district offi cers of the Woman's Society of Christian Service were speakers at a meeting of the WSCS of Talent Methodist church Monday evening. They were Mrs. G. P. Blinck horn, Eugene, district presi dent, and Mrs. Clyde Hicks, Grants Pass, district spiritual life president. The group held a fellow ship supper and general meet ing in the church annex. Demonstration Slated for Club Central Point - John Mc Loughlin, county extension agent, will give a demonstra tion of plant propagation at a meeting of Central Point Gar den club Monday, October 24 at 1:30 p.m. He will also demonstrate growing shrubs from cuttings. The club will meet at the Central Point library garden information center, which is sponsored by the garden group. The public is invited to the meeting. FINALIST A New Mexico's Maid of Cotton, Nanoy Sua Gray, 2 1-year-old brunette from Deminfr, will compete for the national title In Memphis, Tenn., In late December. The ' winner will represent the American cotton industry on an international tour. Details of 1961 Maid of Cotton contest may be obtained from the Na tional Cotton Council, Box 81K1.1, Memphis 12, Tenn. Family Makes Home in Ashland Hornbrook Mr. and Mrs. John Rosenberg, accom panied by Mr. Jackie Bibeau, Ashland, drove to Portland on Saturday where they met the jet plane which brought Mr. arid Mrs. Willis Jones and son Phillip, from Chicago. Mr. Jones is the so' of Mrs. Rosenberg, and Mrs. Jones is the daughter of Mrs. Bibeau, The young couple have been living near Chicago where Mr. Jones was stationed with the ' Army. They are now making their .home in Ash land, since Mr. Jones has re ceived his discharge from the Army. Prior to joining the Army, Mr. Jones was a stu dent and an athlete at South enr Oregon college. Apple'gate Valley Knitting Group To Be Revived Applegate Valley - Many local women have expressed interest in organization of a knitting club in the commu nity where study of knitting and sharing of common prob lems would be the chief con cern, according to Mrs. Otis Buck. Revival of the Little Applegate Knitting club is being considered, with meet ings held at Mrs. Buck's home. Date of meetings is yet to be decided, but Mrs. Buck believes the second week of the month to be satisfactory, and she requests that those interested contact her as to the day of the week selected. Members will take turns serv ing. Mrs. Buck will be glad to teach beginners and to as sist others. She said her knit ting machine will be . avail able to anyone wishing to use it. Man Visits Hornbrook'Aunt Hornbrook William Bai ley was a visitor recently at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Mary Kurt. Mr. Bailey is with the fish and game commission in Sac ramento and with two other men from the Commission, has been in Siskiyou county for several days planting Chukkar partridges in vari ous sections of the county.
