Conference for Volunteer Help At White City Set A conference and workshop for volunteer workers will be held at the White City Veter ans Administration domicil iary Oct. 26 and 27. Anyone interested in doing volunteer work at the domi ciliary is invited to attend the conference. Instruction in game leader ship for older people will be included in the program. Man ual arts therapy in mechaniz ed, handicraft and light me chanics will be covered also. Teach Leadership ' Jcssalee Mallalieu, of the cooperative extension service of Oregon State college, will instruct in game leadership. , Louis A.. Reale, chief of do miciliary manual arts therapy, will instruct manual arts classes. The conference will con vene Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. Sessions Oct. 27 will start at 9 a.m. Henry Herzog, domiciliary manager, will give a welcom ing speech at the start of the conference Oct. 26. Mrs. Boffel Talks At Lions Club Helen Bottel of O'Brien, Ore., whose humorous column, "Helen Help U" is read by millions of people throughout the U.S. and Canada, spoke of her experiences as a column . ist at last week's Crater Lions club Ladies Night gathering at Kim's restaurant. Mrs. Bottel said that her "country life" in O'Brien has changed little since she be came a columnist, except that her mail has increased con siderably. , ' She said it is easy to be "as i was" in her small town be cause "half the people don't know I'm syndicated and the other half don't hold it against me." . '. Her column was first intro duced' in the Grants Pass Daily Courier and was later syndicated by King Features after only four publications. She is also a past small town editor and corrcspndent for several Oregon newspapers, Including the Mail Tribune.
