' Guests were Mrs. Carl Tcngwald and the Misses Gladys Easton, Alice Saun ders and Harriet Gebhardt The head table was decorated with a bronze chrysanthe mum arrangement while the remainder of the tables were rimmed with pyracantha and dahlia blossoms.. Chairman in charge of the breakfast committee was Mr: Wesley Coleman who intro duced the general chairman for the week's affairs, Mrs William E. Preston. She sum marked the week's events as successful round of actlvl- tics. These began with a well- attended tea Sunday, October at the Girls Community club. Eight BPW members were present at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon at the Jackson hotel Monday and re. ceived special recognition. Tuesday evening five club members representing differ ent professions appeared on the Business Parade program of KBES-TW Mrs. Preston, head of a sports wear depart ment of a local store, was moderator, Mrs. Florence Lance is a bookkeeper for a public utilities firm while Mrs. Richard Chamberlin also works for a public utilities firm. Other members of the panel were Mrs. F. R. Faulk ner, partner in a local nur sery, and Mrs. C. H. Redmond in the banking profession. Mrs. Preston told of -the luncheon at the Jackson ho tel on Wednesday, October 5, at which Mrs. Thomas Rutter spoke concerning "Women in Politics. This was attended by 71 businesswomen of the community. Honorary mem ber of the local BPW club and only male member, Coun ty Judge Earl Miller, was giv en recognition as well as Mrs. Lance. The Thursday Chamber of Commerce kaffeeklatsch at the Medford hotel saw the Beep of the Week and three other BPW women in attend- All previous Beeps of the Week, Mrsi George Watson, and Misses Laura York, Voda Brower and Peggyann Hut chinson, were introduced. Mrs. Lance wore as a cor sage a yellow chrysanthemum and pale green ribbon on which was imprinted "Beep of the Week," which charac terized her appearance throughout the week. These were a mark of honor and recognition of her achieve ments both in the club and civic activities. She expressed appreciation for the honor which had been shown her. Miss Voda Brower welcomed her to the growing number of past Beeps of the Week. Mrs. Gladys Durrand. first vice president, announced the coming fall conference Octo ber 22 and 23 in Roseburg and urged attendance. She also reminded the group that the October 20 meeting would begin at the Girls Commu nity club with a business meeting from 7 to 8 p.m. The meeting then would adjourn so members could attend the Candidates' fair at Hedrick Junior High school. Edwards, Jack son county Democratic com mitteeman, gave a short talk on the progress of the nation- Townsend plan. Edwin H. Taylor, Central Point, candi date for county commission- also made a short talk. Five visitors were present from Grants Pass club, also two visitors from Medford attended. Joint Meeting Of Two Bethels Slated Tuesday Bethel 55, International Or der of. Job's Daughters, will travel to Ashland for its meet ing Tuesday, October 11. This is the annual visitation night when Ashland Bethel 22 cele brates its birthday. The meet ing will be held at the Ma sonic temple at 7:30 p.m. Honored Queen Teresa Six reminded members that they should meet in Medford at the Masonic temple at, 6:45 p.m. for transportation. This will be a regular meeting for the' Bethel so attendance is required. Roll call will be taken in Ashland. . Sunday, October 16 Is go-to-church Sunday and in the afternoon all bethels in the southern district will meet with the supreme guardian. Class Announced In Round Dancing For Woman's Group A class in round dancing will start Thursday, October 13, at Thurston's School of Dance on Stewart avenue in Medford. The time will be from 8:15 to 10:30 p.m." The first four nights will be limited to basic instruction and beginning rounds. Work shops will follow. Mrs. Byron Dibble will be instructor. ( Mrs. Bessie Clawson ' Plans Trip Abroad Mrs. Bessie Clawson left last week for Klamath Falls and Ashland where she plans to spend a few weeks visiting. Later she will accompany her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ted Clawson and children to Ger many, where Mr. Clawson is stationed with the Army. Mrs. Bessie Clawson will remain In Europe for an indefinite time. Former Resident Hornbrook Visitor Hornbrook - The Rev. Gor don Titus of Gasquet, Ore., was an overnight guest last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Breceda. He was enroute to a minister's meeting in Yreka. The Rev. Mr. Titus and his family were Hornbrook residents for sev eral years, and while here he was pastor of the Hornbrook Bible church. BOARD MEETING HELD Happy Camp - The board of directors of the Happy Camp Lions club met at pres ident Ray Wasson's home Oct. 14. The board decided to buy two go carts which the Cub Scouts ordered last year for the Cub Scout race which is held annually. But when she thinks of quit ting her job, she said she just asks herself: - "Think of all the fun you'd have missed in 18 years if you had been, as they say, 'just a housewife.' " Mothers Club To Make Plans For Activities , The October meeting o the West Side Mothers club will be held Wednesday, October 12, at 8 in the school cafe teria. The fall rummage sale, open house, . and the Christ mas project will be discussed during the business meeting. Mrs. Phyllis Butler, of Southern Oregon college in Ashland, is to be the guest speaker.'
