Annual Don Loper Show To Benefit Kindergarten Fashion conscious women of the Rogue valley are look ing forward to the annual Don Loper show to be given Saturday, October 8, at Rogue Valley Country club. The style show and dinner will benefit the kindergarten which the Junior Service league operates for children with hearing deficiencies. To be shown will be the fall fashion collection of Don Loper, southern California who is termed "designer for the stars." Mr. Loper, known throughout the United States, designs all the clothes worn by June Allyson for her "June Allyson Show" on tele vision, and also designs for Marlene Deitreich, J a y n e Meadows, Lena Home, Hed da Hopper and many other stage celebrities. Reservations for the event are to be made by calling Rogue Valley Country club. The Junior Service league kindergarten Has established in 1953 as a .Qi-profit orga nization. The staff consists of the director and an instruc tor who are specially trained as teachers of the deaf. In addition, two members of the league assist the teacher. Each member completes a nine-rQnth training course before giving service at the kindergarten. Children with hearing im pairments are referred to the kindergarten by a physician or an agency such as the pub lic health department or wel fare agencies. A physical examination is required and no mentally retarded children ire accepted. Pupils .tare en rolled from ages two"o six. Parents of children receiving instruction are invited to at tend the training course eiv- en to members of(Jpe Juni4? Service league. The school is supported by the league through their various proj ects, and many other civic and service organizations have donated money, services, and equipment. Tuition to the school is vol untary. Speech, speech reading, language development and rhythmic training are empha sized along with regular nurs ery school and kindergarten experiences. The school is equipped with a group hear ing aid. The Junior Service league kindergarten serves all of Southern Oregon with chil dren enrolled from Klamath Falls, Grants Pass, Jackson ville, and Bandon as well as Medford. One family moved to Medford from Great Falls, Mont., after hearing about the kindergarten. Since 1953, 39 children have been enrolled in the school. At the present time, seven deaf and hard-of-hear-ing pupils are learning to speak and understand speech at the kindergarten. Engagement Told Of Paula Kruse, WMIiam Ryan Portland - Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Each year the Medford club ioose,a,i"Boep of the Week" and th' year selected Mrs. Florence Lance, accountant for the California - Pacific Utilities company. Mrs. Lance, who has belonged to BPWC tot 14 years, lias Deen president of the Medford club and also served as vice pres ident for one year, treasurer for six years and at present is the club auditor. Held State Office In addition, Mrs. Lance was treasurer of the Oregon Federation of Business and Profession Women for two years, and corresponding sec retary for one year. The "Beep" is also active in other organizations. She is serving hcj second year as financial secretary in Catho lic Daughters of America, is musician ofQJpper Applcgate Grange, to which she has be longed for a number of years, and is a charter member of Siskiyou Knife and Fork Thirteen students from the Medford area were pledged to University of Oregon fraterni ties at the close of formal fall rushing September 25.
