Hutchinson and Miss Peggy' ann Hutchinson, all 912 South Holly street, returned Sua day from a two week vacation trip to Prince Rupert, Britisn Columbia. The trio drove north through the Fraser River gorge and while in Prince Rupert toured the fish can nery, cold storage, and fish smoking facilities in the area. ' En route cast from Prince Rupert they visited in Kitimat where the Canadian Alum Jnurn company recently built the town and the smelter. Side trips out of Vanderhoof were to the Kenney dam and Fort St. James. : Traveling south from Prince George they took side trips to Barkerville, scene of the gold rush in the 1860s and to Liliooet, returning to Med ford via Kamloops, and Sal mon Arm, B.C., stopping at Grand Coulee dam and the Maryhlll museum. Mrs. Voters' League Holds Annual Event The terrace and swimming pool at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Harry Danielson, 2316 Siskiyou boulevard, were the scene of the new member picnic -luncheon given Wed nesday, August 31, by the Medford League of Women Voters. Table decorations, pro grams and name tags in the form of pink spike - heeled pumps carried out the theme of the day - "Watchdogs in High Heels." Mrs. Dunbar Carpenter, league president, acting as mistress of ceremonies, intro duced the officers and com mittee chairmen. Each chair man gave a brief description of her part In the league pro gram for the coming year. Highlight of the afternoon was presentation by the vol- Thomas Rutter, of her com. mittcc's plans for the Candl dates' Fair to be held October 20 at Hcdrick Junior High school. Mrs. J. R. Porto and Mrs. Rutter presented a skit about county home rule. Arrangements for the lunch eon were made by Mrs. John Raapke, membership chair man, and Mrs. Richard Schwahn, social chairman. Their committee was Mrs. A. E. Piazza, Mrs. John Weisel, Mrs. Frank Wilson, Mrs. Nor man Capsey. Mrs. Dollar hide reported that a rummage sale will be held September 24 at the Fehl building, with proceeds to be used for Christmas gifts for needy children. Anyone wishing to donate rummage for the event may contact Mrs. Endersby, SPring 2-4733, or bring donations to the Fehl building the evening before the sale. Happy Camp PTA Honors Faculty Happy Camp -Members of the executive board of the Happy Camp Parent-Teacher association were hosts to the faculty of the elementary and high schools at a teachers tea last Monday. Mrs. Floyd Can trell, hospitality co-chairman, was mistress of ceremonies. Auer introductions were made, Miss Diane Westby played two selections on the piano. Alumni of Stanford uni versity have formed a club, with membership to be drawn from southern Oregon and northern California. A group met at the Medford hotel here recently to make first plans for organization of the group. Stanford alumni living in Jackson, Josephine, Coos, Curry and Douglas counties in Oregon, and in Del Norte and Siskiyou counties in Cali fornia will be invited to be come members. Among those attending the recent meeting were Sam H. Bellah, Rogue River and Paul Blanchard, Grants Pass attor ney, and Mr. Bellah was elected temporary chairman. Mr. Blanchard was one of the organizers of the original Stanford club of Chicago in 1923. The club now has more than 600 members, he re ported. Four Medford women were named to a secretarial com mittee. They are Mrs. William K. McLaren, Mrs. Don K. Auxier, Mrs. Robert K. Hood and Mrs. Bark Boyden. Mrs. Boyden, 2541 Sandy Terrace, Family Leaves Mr. and Mrs. Ron Negles and two daughters, Debbie and Dcnise, left Sunday for their home in Burns, Ore., after spending a week here with Mrs. Negles' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Fletcher, 23 Lindley street, and other rela tives and friends. Medford, will serve as secre tary. First meeting of the new organization will be held Saturday, October 8, in Med ford, and the group will watch the television broad cast of the Stanford-Washington football game. Interested Stanford alumni not receiving a notice of the meeting are asked to contact one of the secretarial committee. -4- Townsend Auxiliary Announces Meeting Townsend Club auxiliary will meet Wednesday, Sep tember 7, at 12 noon at Walk er's Dreamland for a potluck luncheon and business meet ing. During the business session plans will be made for a Founders' day program to be held September 28. Playing in an orchestra which provided entertainment last week were Edward Root, Jim Briggs, J. P. Graham, John Gribble, Mrs. Edna Whil hoit, Mrs. Frances Barrett, Mrs. Pearl Spackman, Mrs. Ann Divit, Mrs. Eva Foss, Miss Maud Arnold and C. E. Naffziger. After the hour-long con cert, Mrs. Spackman, Mr. Gra ham and Mrs. Ellen Town send, Ashland, provided music for dancing. A number of visitors were present for the entertainment.
