From lclt, they are Miss Ohio, - (UPI Telcphoto) Seattle Police Would Have Talk Seattle -(UPD- If there's one man Seattle police would like to meet today, it would be Guy Raoul Rockwell. The missing Seattle antique dealer might prove to be the missing link In the mysterious disappearance of his former wife, Mrs. Manzanita Rock well, 40, and her daughter, Dolores Ann Mearns, 18. The two women have been missing for five months and Rockwell, who is being sought on a grand larceny by "bunco" charge, is gone too. Meanwhile, In an ugly look ing two-story frame house in Seattle where Rockwell lived with his ex-wife and her daughter and where he oper ated his antique shop, human remains have been found in a septic tank. Belonged To Woman Investigating officers say (he human remains, that in cluded an ear, several finger and arm bones, large amounts of hair and several specimens of tissue, belonged to the body of a single person a young Woman, And the question on the Hps of many Seattlites today is who Is Guy Raoul Rockwell, a man of mystery even to his own family. Rockwell came to Seattle in 1948. His name at that time was Guy Muldaven, but he quickly changed it and a few other things too. He composed a romantic new account of his life and added nine years to his life. His brother, Michael Mul daven of San Diego, Calif., re cently told how Rockwell dis appeared after the war , and how he finally located him through a detective agency. "After I located him," Mul daven said, "I called him and we made a truce. The terms were that he'd keep in touch with me If I d keep our par cnts and other brothers from bothering him." Claimed Army Service The story Rockwell mana factured when he came to Se attle was that he was born In France, 45 years ago, the son of an antique dealer. He claimed that he came to this country at 17, and was lm mediately accepted at the Uni versity of California without FOR SAIE-J. H. Rockwell also said he served in the army six years as a second lieutenant. Actually, Rockwell was born in Brooklyn 36 years ago. His father did not deal in antiques, his family was Irish, not French, and he was kept out of the service due to an ear problem. Other mystery shrouds the personality of the 36-year-old pipe-smoking antique dealer. One of the clues to what makes him tick may come from the women in his life. His missing former wife, Mrs. Manzanita Rockwell, was his second mate. He divorced her July 26, and charged her with "cruel and Inhuman treatment," and desertion She had been missing since April 1 and she still is. Rockwell married Mrs. Eve lyn Emerson, 41, three days after the divorce. Her mother, Mrs. Clifford Winkler, told police she gave Rockwell a $10,000 check to buy Indian artlficts in British Columbia, a few days after the marriage. Going To Vancouver Mrs. Emerson Rockwell de scribed her husband of a few months "as the posscsor of an overpowering personality." Recently, Rockwell made it a point to let people know he was going to Vancouver, B. c. to purchase the Indian- arti facts. He also said that he would go to Africa in Septem ber to study Ashantl bronzes on a Fulbrigiu rciiowsmp, which the U. S. State Depart ment In Washington, D. C, says he has never received. A Seattle clerk reported to police that she waited on Rockwell on or about Aug. IB Police had traced his trail to an Aug. 4, airplane flight to San Francisco. Now. a mystery "midnight woman" has entered the pic ture. Richard H. White, the operator of a Seattle boat bus iness and a frequent customer of Rockwell's shop, has told police of "a strangely beauti ful girl that is very dramatic lookiim. "She drove a large car and was expensively dressed. White said. "Sho arrived Just around midnight when Rock well was closing the shop. He never Introduced us to her, but she seemed to be waiting for him A Seattle attorney has un veiled one other mystery. A S175 payment was made Aug 20, on Rockwell's antique shop and residence by another Like To former wife, Mrs. Jo Ellen Corbley, according to Attor ney John F. Kovarik, Kovarik said his client made the payments to protect her interests in Rockwell's property. Mrs. Corbley, who divorced Rockwell in 1056, has obtained a $2,040 judg ment against the antique deal er asserting he owed her that amount in support payments for their 10-year-old daughter. Another late development in the Rockwell case is a report from the Chelan Coun ty Sheriff that two legs, which appeared to be differ ent persons, were found in the Columbia river, one May 30, and the other June 22. A path ologist says they belong to women. It appeared they had been sawed of. . And so the plot thickens. Seattle police arc anxious to make the acquaintance of this mystery man, Guy Raoul Rockwell. He could possibly aid in their search for a girl and her mother. - , CLERGYMAN DIES Santa Barbara, Calif.-tUPD The Rev. The new unit completes a program of odor control costing in excess of $300,000 which the com pany began in 1955. An odor survey in the Al bany area conducted Aug. 31 by the air pollution control division of the state sanitary authority showed a marked improvement in area odor conditions. It showed 61 per cent of the observations had no detectable odor whatever, 32 per cent showed threshold level of detection, and 7 per cent showed a definite, though not strong odor present. None of the observations resulted in a strong or overpowering odor of sulphur components. Richard E. Hatchard, chief of ,the air pollution control division, said this survey indi cated a marked improvement in area odor conditions as a result of the installation. He added that while one survey under one set of weather con ditions is not necessarily con clusive, it does indicate sig nificant reduction in the amount of odorous compounds escaping to the atmosphere from the Western Kraft plant, compared to surveys made un der similar weather condi tions prior to the installation.
