Driver Cited - Police cited Clarence LeRoy Sproul, 18, of 502 Alice St., for inade quate brakes and failure to obtain an operator's license Wednesday after a car oper ated by Sproul struck a park ed car at Fifth and Holly sts. about 8:17 a.m. Damage was described as moderate to both vehicles. Youths Apprehended -Two Eugene youths, ages 16 and 17, were arrested by Yreka Calif., police department Wednesday on charges of auto theft. According to a teletype message received by Medford police, the youths admitted taking the car from a Med ford bowling alley earlier the same day. t Looking for Sister - City police received a letter from a Glandale, Calif., man, Per cy L, Webb, Wednesday, who it trying to find his sister whom he has not seen or heard from since 1927. Her name Is Gladys Webb Manus and is believed to be about 55 years old. Webb said in a letter that his sister was mar ried to Joseph Manus who worked as an auto mechanic in Medford and believes the couple resided at 121 Central ave. at one time, Extensive Damage - Two pickup trucks sustained ex tensive damage Wednesday as the result of a rear-end traffic accident about 1:22 p.m. on North Riverside ave. between Austin and Edwards sts. Po lice cited the driver of one of the vehicles, Franklin Allen Elrod Jr., 41, of 1578 Roberts rd.. for following too close. Driver of the other vehicle was Charles Ashpole, 27, route 4, Medford. There were no reported injuries, police said. ! Paving Resumed R o g u e River Paving company, which has been paving a number of streets for the city, was scheduled to resume work to day. Public Works Director Vernon Thorpe said the com pany quit work for several days to work on different project and then was delayed from working yesterday by rain. Streets scheduled to be paved today include portions of Jackson and Myrtle sts. Thorpe said the company has only days of work left on the project. Follows Too Closa - Robert Quentin Fletcher, 41, of 305 South Riverside ave., was cited by city police for fol lowing too close after the ve hicle he was operating collid ed from the rear with an other vehicle operated by Annie Opal Snyder, 32, of 227 Pine st Central Point. The accident occurred about 2:48 p.m on North Riverside ave. between Maple and Austin sts. There were no reported Injuries. Those leaving Mon day for the trip will depart at 8 a.m. from the lot to arrive in time for the parade at 11 a.m. Obituaries MACE DAVID FREELAND Funeral services for Mace David Freeland, 65, of Gold Hill, who died at his home Wednesday, will be held at Perl Funeral home Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Dr. D. Kirkland West of the First Presbyter ian church will officiate, Com mittal will be in the Siskiyou Memorial park, Mr. Freeland was born May 23, 1895, at Licking, Miss., and had been a resident of this area for the past 4Vi years. Mr. Freeland was retired from the production depart ment of the Standard Oil company and had been with the Foreign Standard Oil ser vice for SO years. He was a member bf the Scottish Rite of Medford. He is survived by his wife, Edith Freeland; one daughter, Mrs. Bess Johnson and two grand daughters. GRIEVE INFANT The Infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kern Elliott Grieve, Prospect, died in a local hos pital Thursday. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Siskiyou Memorial park. A city com mittee recommended payment of that amount to Mrs. Wil liamson because city garbage- men mistook a basket of her dirty laundry for garbage and picked It up along with the contents of her garbage cans.
