A decrease in property tax millage is listed in 49 code districts in the county, while increased levies are listed in 19 code districts. In three code districts there is no property tax change. The assessed valuation of property in 1959 60 was $86,210,408.30, based on 25 per cent of the true cash value of real property. The assessed valuation this fis cal year is $92,942,037, accord ing to the assessor's office. In three code districts in the Ashland area, decreases for some property taxpayers can be attributed to reapprais al law in 1959 and placed on the tax rolls this fiscal year, the assessor's office said. However, the office noted that some taxpayers in the reappraisal area who had been "enjoying a tax benefit" before the reappraisal will now pay their proportionate share of the tax load. The code districts are 5-1, 5-2, and 3-3, all in tAshlatf school district, with the latter two outside the city of Ashland.
