WIE8E United Press International Hollywood - (UPU A com bined television y scientific expedition into an almost in accessible grjtlon of southern Mexico Qs left here to at tempt to record and study a mysterious type of mushrooms and their effects on a tribe of unfriendly Indians. Heading the tour is Dr. An drija Puharich, a physician and research consultant from Carmel, Calif., whose study into various types of mush rooms and their effects on hu mans began while he was serving in the Army. Heading the small TV de tachment, and footing the bill for the expedition, is Collier Young, producer of the series "Alcoa Presents." He hopes to be able to make the first doc umentary film of the rites of the Indians In eating the mushrooms, which local peo ple believe give one the abil ity to forsee the future. Doris is an excellent stu dent and can be accepted at a fine college, she would meet a better type of man and could make a happier marriage. Doris M.-I am sick of all this talk about what a mar velous marriage I could make. My parents are ma terialists and just think of getting ahead. I hope I'll never get like them, although they warn me that I'll think differently when I'm older. My parents have nothing against Al except that he's poor and, as they say, "a nobody." But I don't think a "somebody" is measured in terms ot wealth and educa tion. Al and I are very much In love. We don't seem to need anyone else to be happy. When we are with other peo ple we both feel annoyed and uncomfortable. Doris has tied herself Into 'a hard knot of rebellion against thorn and will fight for her Independ ence even harder if they put stronger pressure on her. On the other band, it cer tainly wouldn't help much for them to withdraw from the battle if they feel she is making a mistake. For example, Doris is right In saying it is unfair to judge a person on his economic or educational status. But she gives sn inkling Into a 'po tential problem when she re mark's casually that Hie and her boy friend are uncom fortable with otlibr people. Doris should be urged to Question herself further about this matter. When two people? are in love they naturally want to be alone at times, but they also enjoy being ac cepted as a couple among their friends. Is it possible that Dorft feels Al doesn't quite measure up to the stand ards of her fiends? Why, un like most girls, Isn't she proud to show her boy friend to her friends? The J.M.'s are naturally ambitious for their bright daughter, but perhaps theyi uu mil lenuic Hint uiuar mu- bUlons may be a strain on her. We get the impression that Doris lacks self-confidence and hss a real fear of putting forth her best ef forts. She may be so afraid to disappoint them that she has decided to wantonly de stroy all possibility of the success they hope for. The J.M.'s would do well to cease talk of the glowing possibilities that may be be fore Doris and concentrate on trying to get her to put off the thought of marriage until she has completed a year or two of college-just to see if htr feelings might change.
