About 800 Attend 4-H Style Revue, Fair Awards Ceremony Approximately 800 people from all over Jackson county attended the 4-H Style Revue and fair awards ceremonies in the National Guard armory south of Medf ord Friday night. To cut the program down to two hours no banquet was given during the annual event this year. Bernard Finch and Carole Tregoff begin today to try to disprove state charges that the couple murdered the wealthy surgeon's wife. The murder retrial of Finch, 43, and his mistress, Carole, 23. moved into its 10th week with defense attorneys Grant Cooper and Don Bringgold making their opening state ments to the jury of 11 women and 1 man. Finch was expected to be gin his testimony Tuesday, to be followed sometime later by Carole. The attorneys said they expected the jury to be gin deliberations the first week of October. Cooper's j o b remained much the same as in the first trial when he tried to con vince a jury that Barbara Jean Finch, 33, was accident ally shot outside her S65.000 suburban home July 18. Lillis trophy for the best exhibitor of the Brown Swiss cow went to Marilyn Deckelman, Rogue River. The Allene Owens' perpet ual showmanshiD troDhv to the outstanding showman of beef females was presented to Ron Anderson, Antelope 4-H club. The Don Nichols' perpetual showmanshiD troDhv was pre sented to Penny Sampert, West Side 4-H club, as the outstanding steer showman. Carol Foote. Central Point 4-H club, received the Jackson pmintv Guernsey cattle club perpetual trophy as the out standing exhibitor of Guern sey cattle. These dogs are being raised by 4-H'ers for the Guide Dog School for the Blind, Inc., San Rafael, Calif. The Mr. and Mrs. Tom Whittle perpetual trophy to the 4-H club scoring the high est average points per club member went to the Eagle Point Pegasus club. The Mary Ann Birdseye trophy for champion dairy showman went to Marilyn Deckelman, Rogue River. The P. K. Nelson award went to David Strickland, Rogue River. The Jackson County Stock man association award, new this year, went to Steve Mar shall, Eagle Point. He receiv ed a $25 U. S. savings bond for scoring highest in feeding and caring for his animal. Regina Krambeal, live stock, and Adrienne Bray, dairy. Oregonian Named Sigma Nu Officer Portland - IUPII - David C. Baum of La Grande has been elected vice-regent of the na tional fraternity of Sigma Nu. The Rev. George L. Evans of Evansville. Ind., was named regent of 'he national organization. Other officers elected at the fraternity convention here were Thomas A. Hewwood, Evanston, 111., s e c o n d-cr" treasurer; Richard Vaughan, Leander, Texas, senior grand councilman; and Flavius Free man, St. Louis, Mo., junior grand councilman. Way Cleared for Vote on Tax Levy Salem IUPD - The Marion county court cleared the way for a vote at the November general election on a $375,000 tax levy for a new county ju venile detention home. The state board of control previously agreed to sell the county land near the present county health department building for the proposed new structure.
