BOWLERAMA A local teenager, 15-year-old Mariann furrcr, nas placed third on the Oregon Journal's senior girls team. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Dixon of the Roxy Ann lanes have taken her to Oswego for the 'telegraphic playoff this week. Being In Area 4, she and her teammates will compete against teams from Wisconsin,-Arl-na and Texas. Others comprising the Oregon team are: Carol Fosen (K&M Bowl-Longview), Pat Lconhardt (Woodburn Bowl), Carol Sapp (82nd Ave. Bowl Portland), Carolyn Eeaty (Umpqua Bowl - Reedsport) and Sherry Cummings (Can by). Should these girls win their match (and we're all rooting for them) they will go to Los Angeles for the Nation als playoff Sept. 1, 2, and 3. Fourteen teams. Their season , will be cut in half with a position night every seventh week. This will mean a 30 week season-26 regular and four position nights. 1 p.m. Major league (Roxy Ann) Ken Thompson, secre tary says everything ready to go on this five man handicap 12 team league. Starts Mon day, Sept. 12. Medco league (Roxy Ann) Don Vessey has been secretary fo rthese men and says they'll start Monday, Aug. 29. Five man handicap- 12 teams. Four of the teams are from the Bulte Falls area and the other eight teams from the plnnt 'here in Med ford. 9i30 p.m. Monday night triples league (M.B. Ilanes) contact Dave Kreer SP 2-2480 if you'd be interested in this handicap league, Tuesday 6:45 p.m. Crater Lake league v(M. B. lanes) Andy says this league will get underway Tuesday, Aug. 30th. They have 12 teams five-man handicap, Electronics league (M. B. lanes). To make this a more competitive league these men have added four teams from KOGAP, one each from Timber Products; Eagle Point Teachers, Ideal Cement and Coca Cola plus the original Hapco, Trowbridge and Flynn, Hltzler and Kelsoe and United Radio teams. They may come up with a new name when they meet Tues day, Aug. 30 at 8:30. President-Randy Gifford. 7 p.m. Starfire league (Roxy Ann). These 12 teams will start Sept. 13th and Reese Hemingway is secretary. Roxy Ann Classic (Roxy Ann). There will be a captains' meet ing Tuesday, Aug. 23rd, a warm-up sweeper the follow ing1 week, . Elk Lumber (M. B. lanes). These fellows didn't even take time out this sum mer. They've had 10 teams of three men each going right along and just as soon as they wind up this league, they'll expand to 12 teams of five men each and start right in on their winter league. Com mercial league (M. B. lanes). This is a five-man scratch with 16 teams.. Team maxi mum has been set at 885. Their starting date has been set at Sept. 7th. There'll be a meeting Aug. 24th. This 12 team 5-man han dicap seem to have a good turnout. 9 p.m. Four - man league (Roxy Ann). This is a new league with a 680 scratch team limit. B. lanes). Bill Tope is a very efficient secretary. Although recently hospitalized, he has whipped things into shape for a Sept. 1 meeting at 6:30 p.m. and has 10 teams complete. Rainbow league (M. B. lanes). Bill Uhrine is secretary of this 12 team handicap league. Their meeting is also set up for Sept. 1, but at 6:15 p.m. City league (M. B. lanes). This is a 5-man handicap-16 team league. Team maximum set at 845. Paul Dimick, secre tary. No Info as to starting date. 9 p.m. Night Hawks (Roxy Ann). This is a three-man setup of 12 teams. This five man handicap league is In the formative stage. About eight teams so far. Dick Phillips was secretary. Opening date for-this league 'IS Sept. 1. Friday 6:45 p.m. Pacific league (M. B. lanes). This has been a 775 maximum handi cap team with five men, 10 teams. Their starting is set for Sept. 2. Industrial league (M. B. lanes). This is a 12 team league with a maximum set at 810. Meeting Aug. 29th at Roxy Ann lanes. 10 a.m. Monday Maids league (M.B. lanes) most of our gals will be working until after Christmas but there will be a meeting Aug. 29th for those who would like to be bowling now. 1 p.m. Lady Elks No. 1 (M.B. lanes) Wanda Booth says this three gal per team league mayi go to four gals with at least eight teams. Their meet ing will be at noon Aug. 29th in we nursery. 9 p.m. Major league (M.B. lanes) secretary Anna Dale Bohannon says the aver age of this scratch league has been raised from 150 per gal last year to 160 and over for litis season. They'll start Sept. 12 with eight complete teams. The teams averaged out to within three pin difference. 6:45 p.m. Victory league (M.B. lanes) this five gal handicap league has set their team high and low at 650-725. Their 12 teams are complete and start Aug. 29th. Last year one of their gals, Kay Nleo-demus,-bowled a 278 game. Nice! Secretary Is Cheryl Rhodes. Tuesday 9:30 a.m. Roxy Ann Rockettcs (Roxy Ann) this is a four gal per team league. Secretary Lee Neeley says 12 teams for sure with room for two more teams. They start Sept. 13th. 10 a.m. - Centennial league (M.B. Lanes) secretary Evelyn Brandhorst says they will roll' for handicap on Oct. 18 and start Oct. 25. There will be openings for new gals on this league. Tuesday Late Comers (M.B. lanes) These gals started late last year and may elect to do so this year. 7 p.m. Rollcrelte league (Roxy Ann) Phyllis Steele says they are ready. to start Sept. 13th with tour teams of five gals each. 9 p.m. Lady Elks No. 2 (M.B. Lanes) Esther Miller said that they have a few openings on this 10 team league of three gals each. Last year this league jlii right well for themselves. There were nine members in the 200 club and three gals earned triplicate score patches, be sides taking top honors in the B class of the city tourna ment. They will start to bowl Sept. 6. 6:45 p.m. Classic league (M.B. lanes) Couldn't contact anyone who was able to give any definite info. Sorry. 9 p.m. - New league (Roxy Ann) This will be a three or four gal teams handicap. Still some spots open so call Karen Smith, SP 2-7171. Wednesday 9:30 a.m New scratch league (Roxy Ann) Contact Wanda Booth SP 2-2047 if you have an average over 135 and would be inter ested in this four gal team. League season will be broken into thirds with trophies for each and hi game and hi series for each third if possible. 10 a.m. Morning Glory league (M.B. Lanes) Marlene Lawless, secretary, says this league will get under way about the middle of October. They may have openings so watch for further Info. 1 p.m. Empire league (M.B. lanes) There are open ings on this three gal, 12 team league. They are the guards who protect the entrance to the closely-fenced women's vil lage. All they have to do all day is watch girls coming in the gate, girls coming out the gate, and girls ambling dovn the roadway. Once in a while they get off their chairs to shoo the men away.
