The five tracts, containing 6,039,000 board feet of tim ber, were sold for a total of $254,675.40. A sixth tract was withdrawn from the sale be cause of an error in the adver tising, according to Carnegie. Loyd Silva, Grants Pass, purchased 1,790,000 board feel located on Beaver creek In Jackson county and also 2,213,000 board feet in the Galice area of Josephine county. Timber Products, Mounlain Fir Lumber company and Bate Lumber company were competing with Silva for the first sale, in which the price of Douglas fir was raised to $29.25 per thousand board feet. Exclusive Agents va's bid of $24.25 per thousand for the Douglas fir was high enough to top the offers of Bate Lumber company and ManlsCifed After Accident Johnnie Carl Shute, 17, route 2, box 572B, Central Point, was Informed by state police that a complaint would be filed against him in dis trict court charging him with passing at an intersection. The Shute car northbound on Table Rock rd., attempted to pass a car at the Intersec tion of Hamrick and Table Rock rds., police said. A Lin- inger and Sons dump truck driven by Charles Gerrielle Hall, 33, of 2060 Table Rock rd., saw the Shute car . and stopped at the intersection on Hamrick rd. when the car swung in on the same road to avoid a collision. It hit the dump truck on the rear right side of the bed. Rogue Terrace Grandview Ave. fjjjjr WEST ON ROBERTS RD. Sold Aug. 18 Spalding and Son, Inc., who were bidding against him. Butte Falls Timber Olson Ross Lumber com pany, White City, offered $32.25 per thousand for the Douglas fir in a sale of 3,458, 000 board feet located in the Butte Falls area of Jackson county. Others competing for this tract were Medford cor poration, Timber Products and R. L. Atkin. Spalding and Son, Inc., Get- son Mill, Inc., and Mountain Fir Lumber company did not top the offer of $35 per thou sand, for Douglas fir made by Bate Lumber company of Merlin for 1,449,000 board feet located on Taylor creek in Josephine county. Caveman Lumber company, Wolf Creek, was the success ful bidder against Frye Broth ers Logging company for 129,000 board feeet of salvage timber located near Cold Springs on the Curry-Douglas County line. The high bid was $31.25 for the Douglas fir. Special Sale On August 18 a special sale will be held by the Medford district at which time 242,000 board feet of timber killed in the Ashland fire last year will be offered for sale. At the regular sale on Sept. 8, the district will offer 17,097,000 board feet of tim ber for sale in seven tracts, according to Carnegie. The to tal appraised price of these sales is $311,979.55. Three of the tracts are located in Jack son county, two are in Jose phine county, one is in Klam ath county and one has por tions of its area in Coos, Doug las and Curry counties.
