Pastor's Assistant To Give Messages Dan Nolta, assistant to the pastor, will give the messages at the 9:45 and 11 a.m. serv ices at the Friends church Sunday. : At the 8 p.m. service, ' Storms of Life, one of a series of Billy Graham films Will be shown. In the film will be the gospel songs by George Beverly Shea, re marks by Cliff Barrows and message by Evangelist Billy Graham. Pastor Clynton Crisman left Wednesday with his family for a vacation trip to the Portland area, and to attend the sessions of Oregon Yearly Meeting of Friends churches to be held at Newberg next week. He is president of the denomination's board of evangelism. 1957 Award of Merit Winner National Medford Presbyterains to Hear Sermons in Series Sunday at the First Presby terian church Dr. D. Kirkland West will deliver the first of a series of sermons on the Plan for Your Life." Mrs. Charles Champlin will sing, "Suffer the Little Chil dren" for both the 9:30 and the 11 a.m. services. Junior High Fellowship will meet Sunday at 5 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Heysell, 2964 Fairview place Swimming will be followed by the program, "How to Get Freedom" to be led by Valerie Knights. Seventh graders will provide worship and refresh ments. Baptists Tell Sunday Schedule Pastor Edward C. Stauffer will speak Sunday morning at the 11 a.m. worship hour of First Baptist church on the subject, "Accepted in the Be loved." The adult choir, directed by Ned Landers, will sing the choir hymn, "Great is Thy Faithfulness." A vocal duet will be sung by Mrs. R. V. Chapman and Mrs. Larry Adams, and a trumpet duet by Don Tinseth and Ned, Landers will complete the musical program of the morning. High school young people of the church will present a worship program at the Jack son County Farm home on Sunday afternoon. Those par ticipating will meet at the church at 1:30 p.m. Regular youth groups will be held at 8:30 p.m. "A Poor May's Cry" will be the sermon subject used by Pastor Stauffer for the gospel hour at 7:45 p.m. The youth choir will have a part in the service, and a junior girls trio will sing. Other numbers on the musical program will be a mixed quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wil- i and Mr. and Mrs. Donn Piatt, and an Instrumental trio. Siskiyou Association Sets Monthly Meet The monthly meeting of Siskiyou Association of South ern Baptist churches will be held at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the First Southern Baptist church, 794 Lozier lane, The Rev. Kenneth Holllng- seed of the First Baptist church of Crescent City has been moderator for the associ ation during the past year. Try Hall of Phoenix will have charge of arrangements. Emphasis will be on training union work. Refreshments will be served by the Wom an's Missionary Society. She will sing "God Painted a Picture." Westminster At the morning worship service at Westminster Pres byterian church Sunday Ross Kinslcr will give the second in a series of messages on "The Christian Concept of Love" entitled "The Love of the Cross." Mr. Kinslcr, who graduated from Princeton seminary this year and is planning graduate study at the University of Edinburgh, is filling the pul pit while the Rev. John O. Reynolds is on vacation. During the service John Lacy, tenor, will sing the solo 'Open The Gates of the Tem ple" and there will be a num ber by the youth choir under the direction of Ted Lawson. Summer Children's church is held during the worship hour for children from 5 to 10 years. These children at tend church and are excused half way through the service for a time of Bible stories and games. A nursery for pre school children is provided at this same hour. Church school classes for children of all ages arc con ducted at 9:45 a.m. A class for adults meets at this hour also. Westminster Presbyterian church is located on Oakwood dr. between Grovcland and Barneburg aves. Bible School Has Attendance of 72 Eagle Point - Seventy-two have enrolled at the vacation Bible school at the Eagle Point grade school, sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventlst church. Mrs. David Morgan, direct or of the school, stated that the children's ages range from four to thirteen. There are 24 boys and 48 girls. The school Is divided into three classes: kindergarten, primary and junior. The Bible study centers around the subject "God's Noble Heroes." Classes will continue until Aug. 19 when students will receive a certifi cate of attendance. Student To Speak At Church Sunday Guest speaker Sunday at the 11 a.m. worship service at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Tenth and Ivy sts., will be Priest Wayne Ham, Frovo, Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Ham, both students at Brigham Young university, are vacationing in the valley. Mrs. Ham is the former Marlicne Miller of Medford. The couple was mar ried Dec. 24, 1959. at the Re organized church here. Summer Vicar To Speak Here In the absence of the Rev. John E. Simon, who is on va cation, John Kliffner, the summer vicar, will conduct the service Sunday at St. Peter's Lutheran church at 8:15 and 11 a.m. Tills will be Mr. Kiffner's last Sunday at St. Peter's. He will then go to Grace Luther an, Ashland, for the- remain der of the summer. The ser mon topic for the services Sunday is "Actions Speak Louder Than Words," based on the text found in John 15:1-8. The work on the chamber to house the new pipe organ is well under Way. The pipe organ is expected to be in stalled at the end of this month. Holy communion will not be celebrated this Sunday. The next communion service is scheduled for Aug. 21 at 815 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday a Pastor's Retreat was held at Squaw lake for the pastors and families of the Southern Oregon circuit. Included in the circuit are Tri City, Klam ath Falls, Sutherlin, Hose bur;, Grants Pass, Ashland and Medford. The Rev. Al bert Nickodemus, Ashland, led the Bible Topic study. Services Told for Central Church Services at the Central Church of Christ, North Cen tral ave. at Jackson st., will begin at 9:45 a.m. Sunday with the Bible school hour. Worship begins at 11 a.m. Mrs. Marjorie Pierce will sing a solo entitled "He Knows The Way." The mes sage by John V. Heberling, minister of the church, will be on the Bible question "What Doth Hinder Me?" Youth groups for grade school, junior high and high school meet at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Youth of Cenlral Church who have attended Christian camp will tell of their exper iences at the 7:30 p.m. serv ice. 'God's Panoply' Is Christian Subject "God's Panoply" is the title of the sermon which the Rev. Fredrick Ross Evans will preach at both services at the First Christian church Sunday morning. It will be based on the sixth chapter of Ephes- lans, verses 10-17. At the first service the youth choir will sing the an them "Pray On. Miss Sara Hinkle will sing "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" at the 10:55 a.m. service. The Christian Youth Fel lowship will meet at 6:30 p.m. for worship and study. The Chi Rho Fellowship will meet at 7 p.m. Miss Diane Buckles will be study leader and Miss Elaine Young will present the worship program. . Members of the church will go to Ashland tomorrow to have an all-day Planning Re treat at Lithia park. Children Back From Camp Good News Seventy-five children at tended Camp Good News near Glcndale Aug. 1 through 6. The boys and girls came from ten southern Oregon towns to attend the interdenomination al Bible camp sponsored by the Oregon Child Evangelism Fellowship. The Misses Ann and Be atrice Hollenbcck, Salem, who have been directing Bible camps for children for the past 15 years, directed the camp. The theme of Camp Good News was "Tree Trails" with Bible trees, camp trees, and woodcraft featured. Daily swimming, hikes, missionary stories, contests, music, and campfircs completed the pro gram. Child Evangelism Fellow ship also sponsors the Good News Bible clubs for children during the school year. Pastor Back From Ministers' School The Rev. Thomas McCam- ant has returned from the Western Pastors school near Colorado Springs, Colo,, and will be back In the pulpit of the Congregational church at the 10 a.m. service Sunday. The topic of his sermon will be: "God's Holy Place," a study of the 24th Psalm. Otis Swisher will be the guest soloist. Katherine Bosworth, Minister Office SP 2-6902 Former Producer Attends Festival Ashland - Ben Sharpsteen, formerly a producer with Walt Disney Studios, and Mrs. Sharpsteen attended the Ore gon Shakespearean Festival, Ashland, on Aug. 9 and 10. The Sharpsteens, who were guests of Andrew C. Love, NBC Radio, producer who produced the Festival's NBC broadcast of "The Taming of the Shrew," saw two of the Festival's four productions, . "Richard II" and "The Tarn ing of the Shrew." Sharpsteen has worked for Walt Disney Studios for 30 years. He started as an ani mator and artist for Mickey Mouse cartoons, then became the producer of the Wildlife series, which has won several academy awards. Sharpsteen is now retired and included the Festival vis it as part of a short vacation trip. The Sharpsteens return ed to Calistoga, Calif., where) they now live, on Aug. 11.
