Higher Payments
Allowed in Law
Some veterans' widows re
ceiving dependency and in
demnity compensation may
be entitled to receive higher
payments as the result of a
recently enacted law, S, T.
Brannock, contact represent
ative, VA Domiciliary, White
City, said Friday,
The amount of dependency
and indemnity compensation
is now based in part on the
rank of the deceased veteran
at the time of his separation
from service.
The new law, known as
. Public Law 86-492, allows the
widow to receive payments
based on a higher rank, pro
vided the veteran satisfactor
ily held the higher rank for
at least six months and was
holding it within 120 days of
the date of his death or sep
aration from the service,
Brannock said.
The VA lacks the necessary
Information to identify these
eligible widows. Widows
whose husbands at one time
held a rank higher than their
rank at separation, under the
above conditions, should con
tact the VA Contact office,
post office building, VA Dom
iciliary, White City.
