Committal will be'1 in Mountain View ceme tery. Mrs. Zumwalt was born Sept. 21, 1874, in California, the daughter of a Melodist minister. She was married June 28, 1905, in Hayward, Calif., to Don J. umwalt, who preceded her in deatj. She came to Klamath Falls in 1906. In her early life she appeared in theater and opera, singing important roles. She devoted her entire life to music. She was a member of the Klamath Falls Women's Li brary club; a member and past president of the Delta Gamma Chapter of the Del phinians; a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal church in Klamath Falls. She was a member of Eulalonia Chap tor, Daughters of the Ameri can Revolution; and of the America Association of Uni versity Women. FREY Funeral services for George Frederick Hegman Frey, 77, of 336 South Riverside ave., who died in a local hospital Tuesday, will be held at Perl Funeral home Friday at 2 p.m. The Rev. H. C-. Coovert of the Zion Lutheran church will officiate. Committal will be in Central Point cemetery. Mr. Frey was born Sept. 21, 1882, at Lake Creek. Ore., and had been a resident of Medford area for the past three years. Survivors Include one brother, Irving W. Frey, Lake Creek, and a number of nephews and nieces. CHARLES B. PADDOCK Charles Benjamin Paddock, 88, of 41 Quince st., died yes terday in a local hospital. LAURA MILLER , Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Alice Miller, 80, of 6303 Table Rock rd., Central Point, who died in a local hospital Tuesday, will be held at Perl Funeral home Satur day at 11 a.m. The Rev. John Heberling of the Central Church of Christ will offici ate. Mrs. Miller was born April 6, 1880, in Arkansas, and had been a resident of this area for the past three months. Representatives from the third county involved, Des chutes, called for an immedi ate decision. Taking of testimony in the controversial issue concluded late this morning and Board Chairman S. E. Brogoitti of Helix said the board will take some form of action" this afternoon. Following the testimony, the board launched a hearing on the proposed Southwest Oregon Area Education Dis trict, tentative boundaries are parts of Lanj, Douglas and Josephine counties, and all of Coos and Curry counties Paving Started - M. Manipulation Hearing Held Portland - (UPI) - Govern ment-called witnesses testified in U.S. Federal District Court here Wednesday in the case of two men charged with gov ernment wheat storage manipulation. On trial were Earl C. Corey, Portland, and Laur ence M. Smith, Waterville, Wash. Principal witness Wednes day was W. A. Richards, named in a grand jury indict ment as coconspirator, but not named as a defendant i the present trial. Richards described a part nership arrangement of the Three State Warehouse Com pany which he said was head ed by Smith, with himself and Corey as silent partners. At the time, Corey was head of the Portland Com modity Stabilization service. Richards said the warehouse company, which accepted wheat storage contracts, made profits exceeding $250,000 over a four-year period. The profits, he testified, were split among the three partners. Tru jillo. Provisional President Joa quin Balaguer, who stepped up from the vice president Wednesday to fill the vacancy left by Trujillo's resignation, had already replaced two top officials and further changes were expected. In an inaug ural speech, however, Balagu er indorsed the policies of the president's brother Rafael, fir 30 years the dominant figure in Dominican politics, and hailed him as "rector of the fatherland." In a note delivered in Mos cow today, the State Depart ment said Russia apparently decided for purposes of its own to seal off the two air men "from contact with the outside world in flagrant dis regard of international law and practice." The airmen are 1st Lt. John R. McKone, 38, Tonganoxie, Kan., the navigator, and 1st Lt. Freeman B. Olmstead, 24, Elmira, N.Y., copilot, of the RB47 Air Force et downed near Russia's Kola Peninsula. It was the third U.S. de mand for release of the two men. Outdoor Manners Council Suggested Salem - IUPI) - A conference of spokesmen from outdoor groups, interested agencies, and citizens voted Wednesday afternoon to request the gov ernor's advisory committee on natural resources to set up a non-governmental council of laymen and others to recom mend a program for encour aging good outdoor manners in Oregon. The conference suggested that Gov. Mark Hatfield make appointments to the new council, to be on a slate-wide level. Hatfield told the confer ence that despite tne ettec- tiveness of such programs as Red Hat Days, "It has been clear for some time that ad ditional means must be de veloped if we are to reach the minority who continue to flaunt the rules of good out door citizenship, good sports manship, and safe conduct afield." Bernard Finch, 43, and Carole Tregoff, 23; appeared to be shaping up today as a battle of wits between a defense at torney and the trial judge. ,- Now in its sixth week, the retrial has featured heated and frequent clashes between Finch's suave attorney, Grant Cooper, and Superior Judge LeRoy Dav son. The two were expected to clash again today over the main cause of contention -the cross - examination of ,of prosecution witness John Patrick Cody. He was called back for the fourth day of questioning by the defense. . Robert F. Thundershowers stretched from New England through the Midwest into parts of Montana. A flood that reached its crest in the Tampa, Fla., area Wednesday led to the drown ing of Nita Lane, 14, in the swollen Hillsborough river and caused about $2 million damage in the area. About 100 families were driven from their homes. A 4-year-old boy was elec trocuted Wednesday night when he picked up a live wire downed in one of the severe storms in Wisconsin. Salem - (UPI) - Clarence D. Spencer Jr. and Louise M. Spencer Wednesday were fined $700 by fublic utility Commissioner Jonel C. Hill for alleged violations of the state motor transportation code. They operate Independent Motor Transport of Albany. PUC transportation director James Singleton said the charges involved trips be tween Beaverton and Albany, Halsey and Albany, Portland and Corvallis and Portland and Hampton. Hill said that in eight other instances cited, Singleton fail' ed to establish proof of any violation. Bank Robber Seeks Control of Trust New York - IUPII - Willie (The Actor) Sutton, 60, bank robber and jail breaker, is seeking to gain control of a $100,000 trust fund he set up to combat juvenile delin quency. This was revealed Wednes day by Attorney General Louis J. Lefkowitz, who filed in state Supreme Court a challenge of Sutton's petition to cancel the "Willie Sutton Helping Hand Fund" so as to provide for Sutton's daughter. Sutton set the fund up in 1952 before he was convicted of a $64,000 New York bank robbery and sentenced to 30 years to life in Attica State Prison where he is now.
