8 n Porter Asked To Demonstrate 'Statesmanship' Bciul - (UPD - Former Gover nor Elmo Smith today cnllcd on Rep, diaries O. Porter (D Ore.) to "demonstrate some statesmanship" by letting Smith's efforts to keep the Northwest regional post office In Portland be decided on Its merits. : Smith, a candidate for the U.S. Senate, said Porter's Re cusations that he and Post master General Arthur Sum mcrfield wore making a "po litical football" out of the pro posed switch of the reuional post office from Portland to Seattle were false. Smith said that Porter's dabbling in polities could easily endanger the efforts to keep tle office In Portland. "I know from my personal Interview wllh Summcrfield that the decision to move the regional post office to Seattle was not made on a political basis," Smith said. "It was made in an effort to consoli date administrative expense made necessary because Con Kress had ruined the post office's budget. And Porter is one of the men who voted for a budget cut or $43 mil lion," Smith concluded. It has definite evidence of the deaths of 61 more American lerviccmen listed as unac counted for when the Korean War ended. The department said Friday it now has nar rowed to 391 the total of 944 who were missing and un accounted for when the war ended in 1D33. It said it had "no reliable information" to indicate any of those were ilive but that possibly "can not be completely foreclosed" and the investigation will continue. The men were grouped around the large table at tho library's group meeting room. The chief librarian, Enid Holmes, wrote the names of visiting in emlici'i on the board, putting "Mr." in front of each name. It made the Scout Jamboree Draws to Close Colorado Springs, Colo.-As the fifth national jamboree drew to a close tills week end, about 73 Boy Scouts and their leaders from northern California and southern Ore gon are preparing for their trek homo. Friday the group was sched uled to lour Pueblo and the Air Force academy grounds across from the Jamboree site. The following day they were to eat breakfast at the Jam boree, lunch In Sallda, and in the evening at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison Na tional monument at Grand Junction.. ... Today the troops were to participate in church services at Grand Junction, then travel to Price for lunch, and arrive at Salt Lake City for dinner and night lodging. Tonight's housing has been tentatively set for Fairmont park. Tomorrow they will tour Salt Lake City, the Bingham Copper mine, and have an overnight trip to Reno. They arc to sleep on the bus. Tues day, they will have breakfast at Stead Air Force base, P.eno, and lunch In Carson City, visit Virginia City, and re turn to tho base at night. Wednesday, they will be at Lassen Volcanic National park for lunch, and arrive at Ml. Shasta about 4 p.m. (PDT); Yreka at 4:43 p.m. (PDT): and Mcdford at 3:30 p.m. (PST).
