In announcing the exhibit, offi cers of the Rogue Valley Art association state that the group is "proud to be able to present the exhibit." It opens Tuesday, August 2, at he gal lery, 220 West Main street. Titled "The Evolution of a Dance Drama," the photogra phic exhibit was created by the San Francisco Contempor ary Dancers foundation, and filmed by Chic Lloyd, theater photographer. The exhibit of 133 photo graphs, ranging in size from a few inches to several feet, "meticulously and dramatical ly" outlines the entire evolu tionary process of the creation of the dance-drama "A Season in Hell," one of the dances in the repertory of the San Francisco Contemporary Dancers. Cryptic captions and notes coordinate the show into a finely organized graphic ex perience achieving outstand ing photographic as well as dance-educational results, it is reported. "The San Francisco Con temporary Dancers Founda tion represents the fulfillment of an essential esthetic need which was demonstrated by the Contemporary Dancers company," a release states "This performing company, with its widely experimental attitude and efforts, clearly demonstrated the need in this country for an educational in stittition capable of bringing new vitality and purpose, im portance and social signift- fanccs to the world of the dance. The formation, there fore, of the San Francisco Contemporary Dancers Foun dation was a necessity, the an swer to the question which asked how the dance might win the honor and respect which the fine arts of our world enjoy." Immediately following the close of the exhibit in Med ford on August 23, "Evolution of a Dance Drama" will be shown at Bush House, Salem, by the Salem Art association and then travel abroad under the auspices of the State De partment until the end of 1961.
