While Baby Sitter

By BESSIE BOYD FRASER

Yreka - Three small chil
dren were taken to the home
of a baby sitter In Gazelle last
week, In order that their
mother, Mrs. Arlcne West
brook, might work as a wait
ress in her father's restaurant.
The baby sitter was a young
girl making her home with a

children and sitter to a near
by creek to spend the day and
then returned to her home.
They played in the creek and
had a picnic lunch, after
wlilcn the youngsters were
put on a blanket In tiie shade
of a big tree to take their
naps.
When all were asleep the
girl went swimming with a
friend and lorgot all about
time and the children In her
care. Hours later Mrs. Wright
came to take them home and
found them asleep in the sun.
The temperature was 108 in
the shade that day.
They were scarcely breath
ing from heat prostration. She
applied cold towels and tried
to revive them, but when they

are expected to recover.
The father is John Curtis
