Man Arrested For
Theft of Car Here
Medford police arrested a
44-year-old Seattle, Was h.,
man Thursday night, and
charged him with the theft
of a car from near the Main
st. bridge earlier in the night.
Arrested was Leslie Paul
Davis. Police said he admitted
the theft. He was confined in
the county jail.
Davis was arrested by an
officer who spotted the stolen
car outside of the Salvation
Army Shelter. The officer lo
cated Davis inside the shelter,
and arrested him. .
Davis told police that the
car, belonging to Jeffrey Clay
Knope, 301 Lynwood dr., was
parked near the Main st.
bridge with the keys in it.
He took it on an impulse, he
said, and added that he would
not have taken the car if the
keys had not been in it.

I have been married four

daughter. We could be very
happy - if not for the mother-in-law
problem.

was in her teens, Ednu was
very attached to her mother
and would like to make a
substitute of my mother.
But the two women Just
don't got along. They always
manage to get on ono anoth
er's nerves and wind up cry
ing. They try to involve me
in their squabbles, but I don't
want anything to do with it.
If they can't get along to
gether they don't have to sec
one another so often. But
somehow they always man
age to make up and get In
volved all over again.

The fact is you have to live
with your In-laws for bettor
or worse. I want my daughter
to have a granny. It is more
for her sake than anything
else that I try to have good
relations with my mother-in-
law.
What I can't stand about
my mothcr-in-law is the way
she tears down everyone in
my family. She doesn't even
know them, but she has some
thing bad to say all the time
about my sister and my sisters-in-law.
She has even
come out with criticisms of

City firemen were called
about 6:15 a.m. Friday to the
McDonald Candy company
and stood by until California
Oregon Power company crew
men repaired wiring.
A vehicle reportedly struck
the power pole at 11th and
Front sts., knocking out the
power supply to the McDon
ald firm. When power was re
stored, wiring apparently
overheated, causing smoke in
the building. '
Medford city police have
not yet located the vehicle.

MORAINE LOCUST
The lacy green foliage of
this new tree casts a filtered
shade as it is rather open top
and tiny leaves. It roots deep
ly and is seedless, both ideal
qualities for street or lawn
tree, and it is thornless, is insect-proof,
and like any lo
cust, will grow in most any
kind of soil. In form this lo
cust is much like the Ameri
can elm as it grows older, tall
and vase-shaped.
The tiny leaflets drift into
the lawn between the blades
of grass, so little or no lawn
raking is needed.
This is the tree for Ross
court, 70 to 80 feet apart.
The Robinia locust is an
American genus. Of the scv
en known species, only two In
the United States reach tree
size. By cultivation, these
trees have been widely dis
tributed. Naturally, the locust
is a thorny tree, stiff, sharp
spikes two inches and more
