Larry Jansen Superb in First
1960 Hill Chore for Beavers
By PETE COLEMAN
United Press International
Larry Jansen, who notched
his first Pacific league pitch
ing victory 19 years ago, made
his initial 1960 appearance
Wednesday night and didn't
look one bit like a man who
celebrated his 40th birthday
only five days ago. .
Jansen, a 30-game winner
in the PCL in 1946, came on
In the fourth inning for Port
land and pitched six frames
of one-hit relief ball as the
Beavers dumped Spokane 7-5.
The performance was made
even more superb by the fact
that it was against the league
leading Indians, a solid hitting
bunch that had won eight
straight going into the con
test. -
