Underground Blast Experiment Slated T MedfordmTribune Las Vegas, Nov. IUPII - Five hundred tons of high ex plosives buried 125 feet un der the desert floor will be detonated today In a non-nuclear experiment by the Atomic Energy Commission. An AEC spokesman said one of the main purposes of the test was to see how big a hole the explosion would make when detonated at the AEC test site Yucca Flnt area north of here. As when buying any other product, the homemakcr is wisest when shopping for froz en foods at a reputable store which provides a good selec tion of brands and types of foods. Often the new freezer owner wishes to try a number of foods and brands to find which the family likes best. Often, a difference in price will bo due to a slight difference In weight. A higher-priced food also sometimes contains im ported or hard to get ingre dients which would make it worthwhile for special occasions. A homemakcr saves the most with the home food freezer by taking advantage of specially offered bargains, but only after careful con sideration. Grocery stores generally place frozen foods in insulat ed bags or protect them with two regular bags. However, it Is still best to get them into your own freezer as soon as possible after purchase. AH frozen foods, both at grocery stores and in your home, should be stored at zero de grees Fahrenheit. Homemade Soups Easy to Freeze Homemade soups are one of the most successful meals ahead menu savers for freez er owners, and they are quick ly and easily prepared. In lit tle more time than it takes to make soup for one meal, you can stock up on the fami ly favorites for fall and win ter. All soups freeze well, es pecially black bean, clam chowder, lentil or vegetable varieties. Just follow the fa vorite soup recipe undercook ing the vegetable slightly. Quick-cool the soup by placing the pot in a sink fill ed with ice cubes, or in the refrigerator, and package the soup for freezing in meal-size containers. If tho recipe calls for rice or macaroni, it is best to add these later, when tho soup is being heated for serv ing. It Isn't necessary to thaw soup before reheating to serve.
