tion of municipal court clerk,

with the city's court. She was

Rogue Valley State bank
The court had previously
relied on the part-lime use of
a police department secretary
to handle its paper work

of nine launchers.
Reports had blamed over
lapping responsibilities of mil
itary agencies and contractors
and jurisdictional disputes be
tween labor unions for the
delay.
In its announcement, the
Defense Department said one
cause of delay was the
"unique fact" that the first
Atlas sites are being con
structed "without the benefit
of an operational prototype
launcher such as will be avail
able for later sites."
The announcement made no
reference to reports that labor
disputes had slowed down
construction work in some
cases. But a spokesman an
swered "yes" when asked if
work stoppages were discus
sed at Gates' meeting.
