Pear Packers
School Slated
The annual vocational pear
packers school will be held
from July 14 through 29 in
Medford, according to Don
Root, chairman of the packing
school committee of the Jack
son County Fruit Growers
league.
Classes this year will be
held at the Crystal Springs
packing plant, Root said.
They will be held daily, and
will include two three-hour
sessions.
The morning class will meet
from 9 a.m. until noon and
the second session from 1
until 4 p.m. Classes for the 10
day course are sponsored

league, Oregon State depart
ment of vocational education,
Medford Pear Shippers asso
ciation and the Medford pub
lic school system, cooperating
with the Oregon state college
extension service.
Mabel Penlund, Medford,
will be in charge of instruc
tion. Those interested in mak
ing application may do so by
contacting packing houses in
the area or Root at Root
Brothers packing plant.
During the past 11 years
more than 1,185 pear packers
have received training
through the course, Root said

it has been announced.

group in presenting the bid to
