Four Appear in Circuit Court The sentencing of Lawrence Orson Allen, 2H40 Juniper live., on charges of larceny by embezzlement is pending receipt of u pre-sentence re port, District Attorney Thom as J. Reeder said Friday. Allen appeared Thursday in circuit court, and pleaded guilty to the charges. He is charged with embezzling $2,- HOO while employed by Frank lin Transfer and Storage Company, Inc. Sentencing of Harry How ard Grav 511, of the White City Domiciliary, also is pend ing receipt of an FBI report. He waived a grand jury hearing, and was arraigned on district attorney's informa tion In circuit court Thurs day. He Is charged with tak ing a wristwateb from a local Jewelry store July 4. James Jesse Roberts Jr., In dependence, Ore., appeared and the court appointed Rob ert Grunt, Medford, his attor ney. Roberts Is charged with uttering and publishing a false check in Rogue River. Imposition of sentence was suspended for two years on Henry O. Waelty, 808 Ninth St., Medford, on a non-sup port charge. Amount of sup port money to be paid his family will be determined by the probation officer, court officials said. Group Seeks Repeal Of School Act Salem - flJPII - Oregon Elec tions Director Jack E. Thomp son said Saturday a Portland group is making a last-ditch effort to obtain enough signa tures for an initiative to repeal the 1057 school district re organization act and the pro ponents hope to file the pe titions Sunday afternoon. Everett E. DeMars, Port land, head of Serve Our State, Inc., informed Thompson that SOS hoped to make it under the July headline. Some 33,712 signatures arc required and several thousand signatures were still needed. The measure would halt consolidation of the state's many school districts and would undo district reorgani zation accomplished so far. MEETING SLATED Timbcrline Lodge - UPD -The Interstate Association of Public Land Counties will hold its 10th annual conven tion here July 22-23. Oregon Tax Commission Chairman Charles Mack is president of the association, which has members in Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Mon tana, Wyoming and Nevada. Crop-Dusting Plane Crashes; Pilot OK Salem (UPD - A single-engine crop dusting plane crash. cd In a field just northwest of Salem early Saturday, in. juring the pilot and destroying the plane. The pilot, Richard Swift, 38. Salem, was taken to Salem Memorial hospital and under went emergency surgery later Saturday morning. He suffer ed a broken arm and lacerated eye and attendants said fol lowing surgery he was in "fairly good condition. FILM SERVICE SAME FINE QUALITY , We Give S&H Green Stamps Three Are Placed On Parole Friday Donald Dec Campbell, Cen tral Point, Friday In district court, was ordered released on parole for the balance of his sentence for petty larceny. The parole was granted on condition that he remain in county jail until 11 a.m. July 14, and upon his release board the bus for Wlster, Okla., and make his home there. Campbell was sentenced to six months in the county jail July 6, and parole was to be considered in 30 days follow ing his sentencing. Campbell was charged with two other persons, both juveniles, with taking' two batcrlcs from Emil Melton Unger. Also ordered placed on pa role was Robert L. Smith, 308 Chestnut St., Medford. He was placed on parole for the bal ance of his one-year sentence on charges of obtaining money by false pretenses. Parole was granted providing he re frain from drinking intoxicat ing liquor and make restitu tion and pay costs. Smith was sentenced Oct. 13. Dennis W. Smith, 717 West Jackson st., Medford, was pa roled Friday for the balance of his six months sentence on bad check charges. Smith was placed on parole providing he make restitution in full and remain employed. He was sentenced April 5. TAVERN ROBBED Portland - (UPD - The Sandy Jug tavern here was held up late Friday night by a robber who displayed no weapon but indicated he was carrying a pistol in his pocket.
