The Yankees, who last year placed only first baseman Bill Skowron on the American league squad, showed their revived strength this time by qualifying Skowron, catcher Yogi Berra, center fielder Mickey Mantle, and Maris. Machen Murder Trial Delayed Portlnnd-OIPD-The first de gree murder trial of profes sional middleweight boxer Paul Machen, 21, of Portland, has been set over until Sep tember. Machen, brother of world's ranking heavyweight contend er Eddie Machen, also of Port land, was indicted along with another 21-year-old Portland er, Charles Patterson for the fatal beating of a Portland farm worker on April 3. DOWSON Wimbledon, England - (Urii -Maria Esther Bueno, the Bra zilian brunette, who holds the United States Women's tennis crown, won her second con secutive Wimbledon title Sat urday by defeating Sandra Reynolds of South Africa, 8-6, 0-0. Miss Hard and Rod Laver Track Program Being Organized At Eagle Point Eagle Point - A track and field program for boys of the Eagle Point area nine years of age and over has been an nounced by Vern Steward, city-school district summei recreation director. Workouts will be after 5 p.m. at the fcagie yomi nigh track Monday through Fri day. Steward stressed that youths of the Shady Cove and Elk-Trail areas are invited to participate. This program is geared for entry in the Southern Ore gon AU-Comers meets at Ash land and Medford. Steward hopes to have the representa tion from this community in the lorm of an Eagle Point Athletic association. All-Comers Meet July 9 Next all-comer meet is set for Saturday, July 9, at Ash land High school. Steward stated that some weight training will be in cluded in the program. The recreation director re ported that registration for swimming lessons in the ses sion beginning July 11 is now going on at the high school.
