The finswer some psychiatrists iilve to this Is that the father mid mother must early have decided to ruin the minds of one or two of their children! 1 once had n professor of psy chiatry tell me this nbout a family of four children of an eminent man when, early In life, the eldest child went in sane. The psychiatrist's con viction that the parents had planned to ruin this child did not seem logical to me. It seemed entirely dlsproven when, later, two more of the children cracked up mentally. Knlhleen Houston, 17. Trail, was reported In fair condition Saturday in Rogue Valley hospital. She was be ing treated for head und buck Injuries following u Jeep acci dent on the Tiller-Trull high way. She was taken to the hospital by Medford Ambu lance service. Slate police said the acci dent occurred about 11 a.m. Friday nbout n hulf mile up the Tiller-Trail highway. The Jeep went over a hank and onto some rocks, the ambu lance service attendant said. The girl Is the daughter of Oragc Houston, Trail. About 3:30 p.m. Friday, a station wagon driven by Ben jamin William Zlcglor, 34, of Albany, Ore., struck n boat and trailer near Miller's Gulch bridge north of Gold Illll. Stale police said Raymond Karl Finley, 40, Crescent City, Calif., lowing the boat on the trailer, started to pull onto the shoulder as two oth er vehicles slopped In front of him on Highway 00. Highway 99 Mishap Another accident occurred nbout 4 p.m. on Highway 09 opposite Bear Creek Orchards parking lot. (UPI Telephoto) 'Rescue Breathing' Planned for Show "Rescue Brcnthlng film showing the enactment of step -by -step procedures In saving lives, will be featured on the Jackson County Tuber culosis and Health ussocia llon's television program at 3 o'clock this afternoon. The bi weekly program, presented by the association in cooperation with the Jack son County Medical Society and the television station, is based on presenting authori tative health education. Mrs. C. Ivan Burton, mod erator of the health series known as "Adventures in Medicine," pointed out that the film has been called the most important safety film ever released. It is so simple that even a child can learn o save a life through the film, she emphasized. Now Recognized In "Rescue Breathing" mouth-to mouth resuscitation is lemonstrated-a method of artificial respiration now rec ognized as the most successful and satisfactory. It has been officially adopted by rescue. medical, health and safety or- use in reviving suffocation victims of all ages, and is said to be taught and practiced by all branches of the armed forces. This safely film has been literally hailed by the Amer ican Medical association Jour nal as having "unequivocal superiority over all manual methods in all age groups." It has been officially ap proved and endorsed as a teaching film by the New York Society of Anethcsiolo gists and the American Socie ty of Anesthesiologists. In telling of Ihc film, Mrs. Burton stated that it was pro cured locally by the Califor nia Oregon Power company for use on television. Mrs. Burton will introduce the film. Number of Physically Handicapped Employed By VA Shows Increase The Veterans administra tion, as of last October, cm ployed I), 200 physically han dicapped persons, an Increase of about 1)53 more than on the same date in 1958, Henry C. Herzog, manager of the VA Domiciliary, White City, has announced. Approximately 6.2 per eent oi me tun lime employees at the VA were physically handi capped. This, Herzog contin ued, represents a ratio of one full time handicapped em ployee to every 17 full time "non hand i c a p p e d em ployees." In order for federal agen cies to determine who is being' considered physically handi capped, the civil service com mission has set up major cat egories of disabilities. New Divisions Three new divisions for re porting have been established for this year's report, Herzog noted. They are controlled dia betes, adequately controlled epilepsy, and persons with his tories of emotional or be havior problems requiring special placement efforts. The Veterans administra tion has, with few exceptions, had physically handicapped employees in all categories of physical disabilities.
