JUNE 28. 1368 Quotes From the News BY UNITED PRESS INTERNATIONAL Havana Cuba's semi-official raido. referring lo Presi dent Eisenhower in a broadcast that hinted the United States was to blame for Saturday's munition explosion here: "Too bad his majesty, Caesar Attila Nero Caligula Eisen hower, the first ambassador of the United Slates and its putrid decadent democracy, was playing golf." New York A court-appointed guardian for Beverly Aad land, filing suit against the estate of the late actor Errol Flynn for S5 million: "Errol Flynn led her (Miss Aadland) along the by-ways of immorality, accustomed her lo a frenzied life of wild parlies, subjected her to a moral debauchery and sex orgies, and taught her a lewd, wanton and wayward way of life." Lake Hiawatha, N.J. Mrs. Anne Lupoli, admitting she fatally shot her executive hubsand, Joseph, as he lay sleep ing: "I did not love my husband." New York Impresario Luben Vichey, concerning efforts lo comply with n city ordnance requiring garments lor an African woman fire dancer who usually performs bare from the waist up: "It will be impossible for her to 'cover' up unless you can supply us with fireproof brassieres." Lorraine A. - My husband and I have been married eight years and have three wonder ful children. I could be per fectly happy-if it weren't for something that happened in the first few months of our marriage. Johnny and I had had a lol of tuarrcls-we were only 17 and 18 at the timo-and I de-j cided to leave him. I ran away for a week and picked up a stranger and had rela tions with him. Then 1 came home and I didn't say any thing about il. This preys on my mind all the time. I know now that I love Johnny and 1 eel I shouldn't hide anything from him, but I'm afraid lo tell him. My sister thinks I'm nuts. Belsy R. - I sure do think Lorraine is nuts. She knows the kind of temper Johnny has. He'll walk right out on her. He isn't the man to put up with that kind of thing. I don't see what good could possibly be accomplished by dredging up the past like that and I can't understand why Lorraine doesn't put the whole thing out of her mind. All right, it was a mistake, but fortunately nothing so terri ble came of il and il is best forgotten. Lorraine has been a good wife and mother for many years now and she doesn't de serve the kind of treatment Johnny would give her if she brought up this old mistake. It's got to be buried. Bulky Beauty The Council: It is easy for an outsider to say "bury the past," but not so easy for the person who feels impelled to do the opposite. Many motives arc behind Lorraine's desire lo expose this past event. If she realized what they arc, she may be able lo cope with the problem more successfully. First, there is the sincere desire to be cleansed of guilt and sin. Lorraine should rec ognize that her husband is not the person who can help her fulfill this need. This is some thing that must be dealt with on a higher plane of morality. Even if Johnny could "for give" her. it would not satisfy her, or his forgiveness would be of the limited, uncertain. human variety. She could never feel sure of it. Lorraine should discuss this aspect of her problem with a clergyman, who will be able to point the way toward squaring herself with her con science. Then there are psychologi cal problems indicated by Hie fact that Lorraine constantly dwells upon the issue. She seems lo h.ive a strong urge lo destroy .v.'.eiever happiness is open lo her. She has bn mentally punishing herself for years and now she is driv en to seek punishment from her husband. Lorraine should get rid of the idea that love impels her to confess her guilt lo her husband. Love would not drive her to inflict intense grief and pain on him. Religious counseling may well rid Lorraine of her urge for scll-p'inishment. The past will become buried of itself while she involves herself fully and actively in creating a better present and future. But the desire to hurt or be hurl mny arise in other forms and if this happens, Lorraine should seek psychological counseling from a family agency. (Copyright 1960, General Features Corp.) Airline Receives Notice of Strike Los Angcles-IUPH-The Flight Engineers union gave Conti nental Air Lines a 72-hour strike notice Monday to back its demand that flight engi neers be used on the lines' 707 jets Instead of rated pi lots. A union spokesman said a walkout against Continental would come some time after 10 a.m. (p.s.t.) Thursday. Continental said that there would be no interruption in service if the 22 engineers did walk off six flights of four cngined planes. The airline, which has been using rated pilots as passengers on its 707s since May 29. said it would replace the six flights with jet powered Viscounts, which do not carry flight engineers. Marion Judge Taken To Hospital Salem -lUI'li- Marion County Judge Red Hartley was taken to a Salem hospital Monday by ambulance but his ailment was not immediately diag nosed. Attendants listed the 59-year-old jurist in "good" condition. He complained of a pain in the chest two weeks ago and was checked lor a possible heart condition.
