I Fathers' day points up how important fathers are, not only to their families but to their communities, business and industry
at they go about their daily task of earning a living. Ed Evans is not only the man of the household at 929 Newtown street,
i but the official mechanic at the main station of Medford's Fire department. Mr. Evans, with the department 10 years, is on
; duty three 24-hour shifts a week at the station and checks constantly to see that every working part of the station equipment
is In tip top working order. The Evans have two daughters, Lynda, 9, and Pamela, 4, who attend West Main Church of Christ.

George lucas, patrolman with the Medford Police Department, works hard at the double job of being a good
father and of helping maintain law and order In the city. Patrolman lucas, pictured as he began his shift at
4 p.m. Tuesday, completed four years with the department June IS. Mr. and Mrs. Lucas and their three children,
Mary 5, Lisa 3 and the baby lee, more than a year old, live at 726 King street. They attend Medford Friends
church and Patrolman lucas teaches a Sunday school class. Before joining the department, Mr. lucas and his father
operated a dairy ranch in the Lake creek area.

A father new to Medford is Peter Rueff, personnel manager and opera
tion officer for Medford branch, First National Bank of Oregon. Mr.
Rueff was transferred from the Coos Bay bank last November and
Mrs. Rueff and their children arrived here in January. The children
are Steven 8, James 7, Cynthia 4 and Tamara, 1; the Rueffs live at
1010 South Oakdale avenue and attend Sacred Heart Catholic church,
Mr. Rueff has been named to the board of the United Medford Crusade,
has been Invited to join the Medford Junior Chamber of Commerce and
will work with the Knights of Columbus here.

South Third street in Jacksonville and have
two children. Claudia Edette it 10, and her
brother, Richard Dean, it 13. Mr. Parrott
belongs to the Jacksonville lions club and
his wife, active in the ouxiliary, is the newly
elected state treasurer for the lions auxiliary
In Oregon. They came to Jackson county
in 1947.
