Mr. Gordon moved here with
his family from Terra Bella,
Calif., where he was pastor

years.
He succeeds the Rev. Henry
1. Brown who left last month
"for Nampa, Idaho, where he

Mr. Gordon is a graduate of
-Azusa college, Azusa, Calif.,

The conference, being held
at the University of Illinois,
Champaign-Urbana, will con-

Mrs. Flanagan has served
as superintendent of the Sun
day school for two j lors, has
been interested in junior and
senior high camps each year,
and two years ago served as
senior advisor to the West
minster assembly at Grlnncll
Iowa. She also served as
president of the Women's As.

Robert Olmsted, new pastor
of the Central Point First
Presbyterian church, is a na
tive of LeRoy, N.Y.
He was graduated from Ho
bart college, Geneva, II. Y., in
1950 and from McCormick
Theological seminary, Chi-
cago, 111., In May, 1060. He
was ordained in his home
church in LeRoy on May 25,
and was installed as pastor of
the Central Point church Sun
day, June 12.
Mr. Olmsted is married and
has three children.
He succeeds the Rev. Bruce
Weber, who moved from Cen
tral Point last winter.

UNITY
Unity is of paramount impor
tance because it is commanded
of God. It should become
part of the efforts and prayers
of every believer to promote
the unity for which our Lord
prayed In John 17:20, 21. Yet,
as important as this unity Is, It
should never be attained by
compromising with error.
Paul in condemning division
at Corinth, gave at the same
time the formula for unity when
he said, that ye all speak the
same thing, being joined to
gether in the same mind and
judgment (See I Cor. 1:10).
This will be accomplished when
all rely upon the Bible as the
only source of authority and
recognize that It is both Inclu
sive and exclusive. Let every
man speak as the oracles of
God.
If unity could be accom
plished through any other me
dium, it would not be the unity
of the spirit. All division today
is brought about by disregard
ing the authority of the Bible,
thus corrupting God's plan of
teaching, worship and work.
People seldom lose their reli
gion by a blow out; usually It's
a slow leak.
