MEDFORD, ORE. 6 Two Area Residents To Participate in Juvenile Session Eugene-Two southern Ore gon residents will participate in the third annual Juvenile Court Summer School at the University o Oregon campus here July 11 to 15, according to Roy Buehler, director. Participating are Kay Crow ell, director, Jackson County Circuit Court Juvenile de partment, Medford; and Fred Trost, professor, Southern Oregon college, Ashland. At the school, speakers will also include Starke Hatha way, executive director of the psychiatry department of the University of Minnesota Medi cal school; James Gossett, not ed Idaho juvenile judge; Gar ett Heyns, head of corrections, State of Washington; and George Saleebey, chief of de linquency prevention services, California Youth authority. A public meeting on "The Community's Responsibil 1 1 y for the Delinquent Child" will be held July 12. It will feature a panel discussion be tween Judge Gossett and Dr. William Pew, with Judge Jo seph Felton, president of the Oregon Juvenile Judges asso ciation, as moderator. Workshop sessions during the week will foster "grass roots discussion" of the Ore gon juvenile code in practice; major trends in correctional theory; interdisciplinary ap proaches to delinquency, and delinquency prevention in action. Culbertson Leaves For Military Duty Lt. Col. Thomas A. Culbert son, 2615 Hillcrest rd., Med ford, left this week end to attend a Commander and Staff College Reserve Officer Orientation course at Max well Air Force base, Ala., for a 16-day period. Colonel Culbertson, who has completed 22 years of service as of this January, was called from the ready reserve and will serve until June 26. 200 Season Swimming Tickets Sold in City More than 200 season swim ming passes have been sold by Medford's parks and rec reation department since they went on sale May 31. This is the first year that the city has offered season swimming passes. Patrons of the city swimming pools now have the choice of buying a season ticket which entitled them to swim at either of the city's swimming pools at any time during the summer swim ming season or to buy daily swim tickets. Season tickets are offered Articles Filed for Chemical Company Salem-Articles of incorpo ration were filed here recent ly for the Great Western Chemical company of Med ford with headquarters in Portland. They were signed by W. C. McCall, Marian H. McCall and R. W. Hendrickson. The Medford branch, which has been operating since Oc tober, is a wholesale jobber for industrial, agricultural, and chemical supplies as well as dry cleaning materials, cording to Gary King, Med ford manager. McCall is the company president. to entire families or to in dividuals. The family tickets cost $17.50 apiece and entitle any or all members of a family to swim at either the Jackson or Hawthorne swim ming pools. In addition they entitle each member of the family to a free swimming lesson. Cost of other season passes are children under 12 years, $4; students, 12 to 18 years, $5.50; adults, over 18 years, $7.50. These also entitle the bearers to a free swim lesson. They are not transferable The season tickets are now on sale at both the Jackson and Hawthorne swimming pools and at the Medford city hall. Daily Rates Daily rates are, children 20 cents, students, 25 cents NETWORKS SEEK DEBATE New York -IUPD- The na tion's three major radio and television networks have in vited Vice President Richard M. Nixon and New York Gov. Nelson A. Rockefeller to de bate their political differences on the air. The National Broadcasting Co., the Colum bia Broadcasting System and the American Broadcasting Co., made their offers Thurs day after Nixon said he would like to discuss his views with Rockefeller in depth on "V. and adults 40 cents. Both swimming pools are now open from 1 to 9 p.m. every day. The recreation department will again offer American Red "Cross swimming instruc tion with four separate 10 day sessions for school age children and adults. From June 13 through 18, the American Red Cross Wa ter Safety Instructor's Train ing Course will be offered to all qualified swimmers who hold a Senior Life Saving rating or the equivalent, and are 18 years of age. Instruc tion is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon every day at Haw thorne pool and there will be no charge. From June 20 through July 1, the first session of swim ming instruction in beginning, intermediate and advanced swimming and junior and senior life saving will be held. The sessions will be re peated on July 11 through July 22 and on July 25 through Aug. 2. Valley Men Drive Wagon in Parade Portland-Loyd (Pat) Mur phy, Phoenix, and Walter Kurz, Medford, both members of the Medford Trail Riders, drove the Rogue valley cov ered wagon in the Portland Merrykana parade. The wagon was drawn by a team of black horses. Although the canvas cover sported scores of names signed by people from Mis souri to Oregon, the original banner, "On to the Rogue River Valley - Riders Para dise," was said to stand out. PRODUCTION INCREASES Frankfurt, Germany - IUPD -West Germany produced 30 8 per cent more cars and trucks in the first three months of this year than in the same period in 1959. The share go ing to the export market drop ped from 49.8 per cent to 47.7 per cent. In the first quarter of 1960, West German firms produced 520,871 cars and trucks, and exported 248,304.
