By imitation and repetition w learn a poem or memoriae fact. We mostly think that animals, who are prompted only by in stlnet, are very poor at associ ating actions observed in oth ers, with things they could ac complish themselves. So we can say an animal only eat because it is hungry, never because it sees another animal eating. It Caa't AacUI We seldom credit a lesser creature with watching, and thereby learning by Imitation, what it see. A chicken can watch a man go around the end of high fence, but sel dom eem to have tense enough to go arouna tne ena by Itself. It can't associate what someone els Is doing in order to make it own lite a little easier. No on ever credited tne nara&eet with being an intel lectual giant in ipite 01 me fact that these birds are able to imitate words that have itcen drummed at them for a Ion period of time.
