Monday, May 30, 14 3 Dairy Maid Nine Halves NW Series Memorial Stadium, White City - Rogue Valley Dairy Maids, with Ellen Callaghan throwing two-hit ball, shut out Martinizer Cleaners of Portland 4 to 0 yesterday to claim i series split in week end Northwest Women's Ma jor Softball league play. The Portland team, which has been known part of the '.ime as the B Queens, won on Saturday evening 8 to 4. The Dairy Maids are now 3-3 in the loop. 3ogue Valley on Sunday gained two runs in the first inning on two errors, a field er's option and a three-bagger by Callaghan. The two addi tional counters came in the fourth canto on Doris Hick- "son's double, Callaghan's single and an error. Hickson and Callaghan each hit two for three. Cal laghan whiffed five batters and gave three free trips to " the base paths. Marian Kozak, pitching for Martinizer, al lowed seven hits, while fan ning four and walking just one. Graat Big Inning The Cleaners massed all their runs in the third in ning on Saturday night. Mar tinizer's eight markers were on only three hits. Eugene, who went into their Sunday doubleheader tied with Yakima for first place, downed the Bears, 2-0, in the opener but were forced to settle for a 2-1 decision in the second contest, all because of Pete Gongola. The wins, however, put the Oregon club two games ahead of the Bears in the standings. A sixth inning solo circuit clout by Gongola, Bear catch ,'er, in the fifth frame of the second game gave the losing Bears their only run in the twin-bill.
