GUARD HELPS Also participating in the
local campaign is Company E of the Na
tional Guard. Unit members are shown
cleaning portions of Riverside ave. recently.
Actively engaged in the same project is the
Civil Air Patrol which has volunteered its
cadets to help the Medford Jaycees Com
munity Development committee in June. Up
to now, many cadets have assisted the cause
by doing "beautification" work around their
headquarters at the Medford Municipal airport.

Dave Beck Wins
Rehearing Fight
Olympia - (IPI) - Dave Beck
Friday won his fight for a
rehearing by the Washington
State Supreme Court of an
appeal from his 1957 grand
larceny conviction.
The court granted a petition
by the retired Teamsters pres
ident and set June 14 as the
date for re-argument.
The order gave no reason
for granting the rehearing bjt
apparently the only question
considered was Beck's conten
tion that a trial court judg
ment of a criminal case can
not be upheld when an appel
late court is equally divided.
A King County Superior
Court judgment that Beck, 65,
pocketed SI, 900 from sale of
a union - owned automobile
was affirmed last February
by the State Supreme Court.
