Plywood Prices I Af Post-War Low Portland -I'Pl- Plywood prices Tuesday were reported at new pott-war low of S60 a quarter-inch AD grade, after several weeks at S64. One of the biggest indepen dent plywood producers, Rowburg Lumber Company, confirmed the S60 price. Ken neth Ford, president of the firm, said "they have been merchandising plywood at that price for the last couple of weeks." Other major producers had MAIL TRIIUWI, MWferf. Of. 7 W.aaua'r, Mar M, IMS ' ' no comment" when asked about pricing plans. Industry sources said tlie $64 price had resulted in lay offs and more may be forth coming. North West Door of Tacoma has said it would shut -down for a week beginning June 13: Washington Plywood at Everett, Wash., 'said it would operate only one shift for awhile: Simpson Lumber Co. which operates a plant at i Olympia said it ias gone to 50 per cent production, and the Diamond Lumber Com pany at Tillamook, Ore., said it plans production curtail ment which might affect 75 to 100 men.
