May found the giant puffball or "bread" mushroom in the Sterling creek area last Sunday. This variety, he says, can be sliced and dipped in egg batter before frying, like one would prepare egg plant. Two more such mushrooms, only slightly smaller, were found in the same area this week by Frank R. Hiatt and Leon Miller. May's mushroom weighed IOV4 pounds and measured over a foot across. Four Repub licans and one Democrat op posed it. Members said the vote kill ed the bill for this session of Congress. The Senate last year ap proved a S52 million bill that provided for grants of up to $11 million for each tate, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia to aid in the construction of educational facilities. The House commerce com mittee had scaled this down j to a limit of $750,000 for each I of the 52 political subdivis ions.
