Ache, the 1-2 finishers in the
derby, arrived on the same
plane at nearby Friendship In
ternational Airport Tuesday
and were vanned to the old
hilltop course.
They were joined later by
Victoria Park, the derby's
third-place finisher who was
shipped by train from Louis
ville. Vic Sovinski, trainer of Ve
netian Way and Jimmy Pitt,
Bally Ache's conditioner,
were motoring from Ken
tucky. Both men have indi
cated they would like to give
their charges a race over the
Pimlico strip before the
Preakness May 21.

field accomplishments across
the national where athletes
equalled or surpassed Olympic
games qualifying standards
reached the U.S. Olympic
Track and Field Committees
this week.
Although not officially re
ported to the New York of
fice, a 13:43.6 clocking for the
three-mile run by Bill Del
linger, ex-Oregon ace, turned
out to be the top reported
performance. Dellinger's feat,
once it has been duly record
ed by the committee, will
give the U.S. its first qualifier
at that distance.
The only events in which
the U.S. now has failed to
obtain at least one qualifier in
the 19 Olympic events where
such requirements are neces
sary are the 3,000 meter
steeplechase and the 10,000
meter runs.
